Update- I sent the picture to my foot doctor today and received a phone call back. He says it looks fine. I appreciate everyone's input. And I wish all of us on here a speedy/full recovery\! I had bunion surgery 18 days ago. I was told to take a shower today. I still can't put weight on that foot, it was a little scary. I have a few questions if anyone can give me their take post op. 1- it's the first time I actually looked at my foot.

Shower stool. I sat and transferred into the shower then turned on water with handheld sprayer. Shower was awesome but yes purple color due to circulation. Its a good thing. Safety always first. It gets better. This is 6 weeks for me.

How red? My foot wasn't red. The big toe pain and numbness is normal.

That is terrific that you are 18 days out and your doctor is saying things are good! I had to see my podiatrist 3 days after surgery to get the dressing changed so I saw my foot.

We have a big walk in shower so I used a walker for support while I showered. One wall has a seat also so I sat for parts.

If you feel that there is a concern - can you take a pic and send it or do a telehealth visit? Trust your gut - better to be safe than sorry.

I bought a shower stool and sat on that with my cast covered from day 2. I then showered with my knee resting on the stool. I was non weight bearing for 6 weeks.

I'm 13 wks post op. Everything sounds normal. I wore my boot in the shower it helped a lot because it was painful in bare feet. Still is. Just double bag and tape your foot.

I have been showering since the third day after surgery and then about every other day. First, I bought a shower chair. Next, I have a walk in shower which has a hand held shower piece I can use.
