Based on experiences for folks who have had bunion surgeries

Based on experiences for folks who have had bunion surgeries - Who did them? Podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon? I have 2 medical opinions so far. Podiatrist took and x-ray and examined my foot. He recommended lapiplasty (and would have me sign a consent in case he needed to do a 1st MTP arthrodesis). He said I still have movement in my big toe so he wouldn't do the 1st MTP as first course of action. He has years of experience. Orthopedic surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle said she would do the 1st MTP arthrodesis and not the lapiplasty. She said I wouldn't be happy with the results of lapiplasty and would be mad at her afterwards. She has 13 years of experience and said she has done 100s of these. I'm not sure if these differences in recommendations are podiatrist vs. orthopedic surgeon or if they are generational. I'm going do a 3rd opinion this week and will go for a 4th, etc. Thoughts?
