Hi all, I had surgery to repair my tailor's bunion, about 2 months ago - this included 2 screws being inserted. I can walk but every step hurts and my foot swells easily. For those that have had the surgery, when did the pain ease up and you could walk without pain or discomfort? Just going into the office for a day leaves me in agony and hobbling around, hoping this won't last too long!

I had surgery 3 months ago but no screws. They said your foot can swell up to a year. Mine does swell after too much walking (or a plane ride), but not too much pain. It does ache sometimes, but not too bad. Good luck.

recovery was pretty good. I had a walking boot as well as a stiff sandal like shoe for about 4 weeks. I have a 6 month appointment on May 2nd. The bone hadn't fused as much as the doctor had hoped at 3 months. Might be partly cause I'm older. At least I can wear shoes again and it only gets a bit sore occasionally because it's not completely healed yet.

My hubby had surgery April 14, had a pin inserted the first 6 weeks, He can walk with out pain most days but, he is starting to play golf, mostly 9 holes a few times a week, and Pickle ball a few times a week, which he loves, that can irritate it for a few days......or if on his feet too much. The surgeon said it would take a few months, he is sooo wanting to be healed!!!. His problem he already wears at least a 4 E toe box. I think we will visit a podiatrist to see what they can do for him. I suggested icing it..............

hi! I found your post and curious how you are feeling after a year and a half? I am 40 and my doc has been telling me I need to have surgery with possible screws. Any advice would be great.

Hi, I am doing much better now but I still don't have full feeling in my little toe, I think it will be permanently numb lol. And the side of the foot, including the toe still gets sore after lots of walking and in cold weather. But it's mostly fine and doesn't really bother me 🙂
