Anyone experienced pain when walking on ball of foot under big toe and the inside part of foot…feels like I am walking on glass…does matter if I have my shoes on or off. Today I can barely make it 10 feet without having to sit it hurts so bad. My doctor thinks I have entrapped nerve and gave me cortisone shot into tissue surround nerve 2 weeks ago and it did nothing. I am 7 months post op and this started with just big toe numbness with shooting pain in big toe…keeps getting worse and today it is unbearable ….anyone else experienced this or something similar ? TIA

I would demand to have an MRI done to get the answer. Doctors hesitate to order them, because they are expensive but it sounds like you are in a huge amount of pain.

have had an MRI and was normal. The only thing that was noticed is that my bones have not fused together from osteotomy…doctor just says it can take up to year for bones to heal..but I question if I have nonunion …he says no

Oh gosh idk what to think. It definitely sounds like a nerve is the problem but where? Maybe someone in our group will know if another type of imaging would help them figure it out.

I thought an ultrasound would show nerve damage but my surgeon hasn’t mentioned doing one. I had an EMG but it only checks the larger nerves not the small ones in toe/foot. I am just so frustrated

Is it worse than when they did the MRI? I think a 3T MRI is the best at seeing the nerves and if there is any impingement of them. Maybe a sonogram…this isn’t my expertise by any means. I totally understand your frustration. You need the answer now.
