Anyone have softwave, ultrasound or shockwave therapy? All 3 supposedly treat chronic pain.

6 shockwave sessions gave me about 5 years of zero pain. But right foot has just come back.

I had 8 sessions of shockwave therapy and I am still in pain a year later.

I’ve had EPAT which was a radial form of shockwave. This was like a little jackhammer to the area. My therapist used it to warm up the tissues before doing active release technique which is hands on soft tissue therapy. I’ve also had focused shockwave and that was used by itself without the work afterwards. This was like a wand gently guiding over the area, it would feel like a toothache if it came across an injured area with scar tissue, swelling adhesions. When gliding over healthy areas, you don’t feel the toothache. It’s pretty neat that way. But I still would get active release technique just at a different appointment. I think focused shockwave is becoming more common of the two to use for chronic issues.

I have had much success with therapy. It’s a non-invasive therapy that uses sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing response and support soft-tissue repair. After dealing with ongoing pain, I was really impressed with the difference it made for me.
