Brooks adrenaline are only semi gusseted. I just looked at mine and you could totally cut that out. And they are a stability shoe. Only shoe I can really wear. The Altras are a really good shoe too. The toe bed in them are so roomy. I’ve been wanting to get a pair but they never gave my size.

Does anybody else have a high instep and struggle to find any type of running shoe that doesn’t have a gusseted tongue? I figured if I could ever find some that were somewhat comfortable if they were only semi-gusseted I could maybe cut that but some of them are like totally sewn into The whole front of the shoe. Just wondering if anybody else has this problem

I find the gussets help control my foot motion and provide support.
Also, I am buying my shoes in wide width to provide room for the orthotics and my high arched foot.
My new balance to not have a gusset. They work great for me, especially since my foot problems seem to be somewhat caused by pressure on the top of my foot
Sorry don’t know what a shoe gusset is. You mean tongue of shoe under laces?
When i had severe pains thats caused me to have back and nerve pain and i was diagnosed to suffer from neuro disease i was on some meds that didn't help at all so i rather tend to take klonopin and suboxone that has really helped me combat the nerve pain and migraines thats made my life miserable. I always have my pain meds ordered from my vendor below is his Facebook page if you need some pain meds he is very straight and legit go to him to avoid all this random people's Link: https://www.facebook.com/tabu.tangu
I'm actually in the process of trying the Brooks ghost with different inserts in it because they're not all that cushioned but they do fit fairly well I'm kind of in between a regular within a wide in the front so I'm just trying to figure all that out right now I don't need a stability shoe but these are basically the same as the adrenaline only their neutral do you wear anything inside of them? The ones I have now are the 13 Ghosts and they don't have a gusseted tongue
Altra is a great shoe too.. it has a roomy toebox and very cushioned.. they are pricey but worth it for sure.
I tried those but I think they're actually too wide or something again they hurt the outside of my foot
Which Ultra model are those
Yeah I can't wear zero drop shoes that would really hurt my back I'm used to a fairly High offset of heel in a running shoe. I did try the altar to run but. Oh wow you have Tailor's bunions to huh? There the pits and then I have this weird thing where my little pinky toes lay on their sides so seems like everything I put on I always get from throbbing and stinging with that even if the shoes are wide so I'm really at a loss right now trying to figure all this out
Well that's good yeah I know they change their technology so that it's not quite so much for overpronators so that's a good thing these older Brooks 13th they have a decent amount of toll room that seems like but I got a wide but I'm just not sure what I'm going to do yet but maybe I should try the adrenaline just go to try did you get the regular with?
I don’t wear anything in them currently. But I am waiting on my Upsteps insoles to come.
I have been wearing Brooks Adrenalines for over a year. I found them to be more comfortable and wider in the toe than the Ghost, but that was with the last model. Even though the Adrenaline is a stability shoe it doesn’t have a lot of stability so even if you don’t require a stability shoe it might work for you. I have tailor bunions and a huge bone spur on top of a big toe that has Hallux Limitus. The Adrenaline is the only athletic shoe I will wear now. I tried and returned at least 10 other shoes. It was a challenge to find a shoe, and frustrating!
i tried Altra Olympus (I think that was the model) and while the toe box was bigger, the shoe gets narrow right where my pinky toe is and they rubbed my tailor bunions. I had to send them back. Also, Altra have zero drop so if you can’t do zero drop keep that in mind. That was another reason I sent them back, i need a slightly higher heel than toe due to a tight Achilles.
Pretty sure it's the paradigm.
I have the regular width of the Adrenalines. When I first got a pair last year I bought a wide because that’s what I thought I needed. My foot moved too much in the wides which caused problems. When the current model came out I bought the Regular width and it is fine even with my tailor bunions. I now have three pairs of them.
Which model New Balance always seems so hard to me
My favorite shoes are my old Asics Nimbus they were perfect they just felt really good and cushiony and as long as I had tape on my feet they were fine but then my feet grew I guess cuz they got really small and so I started having all kinds of problems so that's when I really had to start looking for shoes although I have been looking before but I had warned those for like 4 years I think but then I was developing the Tailor's bunions and all that but all the new ones are super gusseted and they run narrow and I don't know I read reviews on different shoes and a lot of people are complaining of a lot of different manufacturers. Sounds like you have a high instep like I do. I take after my father I guess he couldn't order loafers or anything like that and neither can I
My problem is they all feel so darn hard and now the doctor wants me to try inserts that are hard
unfortunately, I can’t remember the model, but here’s the tongue tag
okay don't know what that means - is it an 800 series?
I think it’s 680
It’s funny because I hadn’t even noticed the gusset on my sauconys until a week ago and I’ve been wearing this brand for years. As this pressure on the top of my foot worsens, I’ve been wondering why I can’t seen to get my running shoes loose enough. Idk how long saucony has been tying down the tongue, but it doesn’t work for me
i had that problem too - i had bought some Saucony Triumph which is their highest cushhion shoes. If there is a real small gusset in a shoe i can probably cut it if they work out but hard to figure out
I do have a high instep and wide feet. My adult daughter has wider feet than I do, and she has found new balance to be the answer as well
may just take getting used to
soft soles make my feet tired and my body sore
I was told I don’t have much of a fat pad at all my feet are just skin and bones now that I’m older
yikes
aging sux
It's where the tongue is like sold in there's like extra elastic on each side so that the shoe fits tighter on the top of the foot which does not agree with me
thank you Chris. Got it.
