Musician concerned about MIS bunion surgery recovery time

Archive date 6 archived replies

Has anyone any info on this procedure please? I’m super nervous about going ahead. Particularly the length of recovery time as I’m a musician/conductor and spend a lot of time on my feet in concerts. It’s the ‘metatarsus adductus’ bit that makes me most anxious as it’ll involve correcting all my toes. This is how the procedure is described in the hospital’s email to me. ‘Right mis/open hallux valgus, lesser toes and correction of metatarsus adductus’

Haha ... a long time to return to normal. I got my pin out Monday and I am hobbling. Dr said when I come back on 4/2 for check up he will work with me if my hobble is still bad.

how do they remove the pin? Is it another minor surgery? What length of time passes before pin removed. Thx for any input.

they just pull it out. Takes a second - it's sticking out of the toe during recovery but it's wrapped during the first 4 weeks.

It sounds a very complicated procedure and understandably you’re nervous to have it done. I’d definitely ask the hospital to explain the procedure in more detail and the expected recovery time. Good luck with it.
