Has anyone had their hardware removed?

Has anyone had their hardware removed? I can feel the screws when I touch my foot and I can also feel them at times with weather changes. I also had a plantar plate repair at the same time and have irritation in the joint where those screws are. I'm scheduled to get them removed on Tuesday, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't. Doctor said I could but they don't bother me, I can't feel them. And I don't know how they are removed but I wouldn't go for another general anesthesia for it. The was the only bad part of my surgery; one whole day vomiting.

The surgeon was able to get my 3 bunion screws out and 1 of the tiny screws from the plantar plate repair. The other small screw had the head bust off, so the rest is in my bone. She cleaned out scar tissue that was in the joint and growing under the incision from the plantar plate repair. Hopefully this does the trick.

What’s recovery like for removing the hardware?

I felt nauseous all day from the IV anaesthesia. When I had the gas anesthesia from my shoulder surgery I was vommitting a lot. I did get anti nausea meds before and after surgery since they knew I had issues with it in the past. I had a nerve block with my first foot surgery, but didn't like having a number foot for 3 days.

I couldn't have a nerve block because I did both feet at same time, and I needed to walk out of the clinic. Gas anesthesia is not used in my country.

it was the best thing for me. Only one anesthesia and only paid for the operation room once. I'm not sure my insurance would pay for the second procedure in the same fiscal year.

I had general anesthesia through an IV in my hand. It took an hour for the surgery. I can bear weight as tolerated. My surgeon wants me to stay off my foot mostly for 2 weeks and elevate. Then slowly add in more walking. My foot is tender after bearing weight on it more and more as I feel better. It's 5 days post op today.

, not yet. If I palpate my foot, I think I can feel where the metatarsal fractured. My screws are backing out. Front of my big toe is numb. That I think is common.

My surgeon recommended to take 2 weeks off of work. I'm a teacher. I'm elevating my foot most of the day. I had scar tissue removed in the joint of my second toe and above the second toe, so it's going to be a little longer for healing.
