After a short walk? I’m 7 weeks after surgery and still struggling with normal walking. Under the pad of my foot is painful. I’ve bought extra wide trainers. Thanks for any advice. Shared post Ty Pie I'm sitting at around 16 days post-op... Today I was finally able to remove the iodine-laced dressing and have a proper shower!!!! 🎉🥳🪅🪩🎊🎉 But I have to be totally honest here... I did a lotta reading and research before making the personal choice to have MIS bunion surgery, and to this day, I do not regret the choice... But... It might have been an error in judgement watching someone else's MIS bunion recovery video on YouTube... and using it as my initial frame of reference? Because their post-op recovery looked so smooth it was criminal. 😂 Because no matter the bunion technique applied you still have to deal with being put under anaesthesia, bones are still cut and realigned, pins or screws inserted, and swelling being a real mutha🤬🤬🤬 With two young children, the idea of lying with my feet elevated all day is about as realistic as flying somewhere over the rainbow to meet a town full of munchkins. The good: Shuffling around is getting a little easier, my gentle exercises are still manageable and I'm making good progress wiggling my toes. The bad: I just can't sleep on my back, so I'm side- or front-sleeping with my legs awkwardly elevated and I shouldn't have watched the movie Obsession by myself last night! 😱😂 The ugly: My swollen Frankenstein foot! 🧌😂 Take good care of yourself my friends I'm sitting at around 16 days post-op... I miss walking!! 😭🥺😂 That being said, even though I still lumber like Frankenstein after a few beers at the pub, I think I'm moving in the right direction. Gentle activity was ALWAYS going to be a part of my plan, so I've been able to find some seated upper‑body workouts (using lightweight) and attempt core exercises — nothing too crazy, but enough to raise the heart rate. I mentioned before that I've increased vitamin D & K2 but still take my regular multivitamin, fish oil, turmeric, protein shakes with a sprinkling of creatine. So far, I haven't needed to use any pain relief, but I'm trying to stay as hydrated as possible. But in case I haven't said it already... I miss walking. So, to celebrate my upcoming one‑week MIS bunion surgery anniversary (🎊🥳🎉), I've found a nice new boot (arriving tomorrow) that I'll use to explore the outside world again... hopefully next week? But I'll be listening to my body like it was a Whitney Houston album and will not push too hard or too fast...but anyone who could share how they started the process of walking it would be greatly appreciated.
