Find a podiatrist or dermatologist that will send clippings off to a lab. That’s the only way to know exactly what it is.

Hello, I was wanting some advice regarding toenail issues.
Hello, I was wanting some advice regarding toenail issues. At 13 years old I went to the doctor for an odor when I clipped my toenails, and pain. I was diagnosed with an ingrown toenail but I’m convinced it was untreated toenail fungus this entire time. I’m 22 now, and I’m so embarrassed because it’s worsened and my concerns weren’t taken seriously. I assumed I had an overgrowth of keratin but after recently noticing the grooves and discoloration has gotten worse, I believe it is a fungal infection. I don’t know what my next steps should be, I definitely want to see a doctor asap. Some people have had success with home remedies but I don’t want to risk it getting worse. In the meantime while I wait to be seen, is there anything that I can do? I have discoloration, and my toenails have gotten thicker over time. I’m really worried it has gotten to the point where I might need toenail removal. If anyone can provide me with any advice, reassurance, or information, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Posterity can give you a pill And it will take a year to have normal nails again
Looks like fungal to me and it’s spreading to your smaller toe. Lots of great advice in this group. Colloidal silver, salt soaks, Vicks as well as filing the nail down thinly. Scroll through and try treatments that resonate with you. I am doing the above suggestions I mentioned and definitely seeing results.
Have you considered having the toenails tested for what it is?
what’s posterity?
should be podiatrist
OK thanks. Which pill worked for you
I noticed that too 😞😣 filing the nail down as in, the thickness of the nail? Or making them shorter?

Anonymous member 597 I have not. I was just started on terbinafine
Anonymous, my podiatrist said many people have bacterial infections and/or fungal and treat the wrong one. The only way to know is to test the toenail clippings. You can do this online or with a podiatrist.
Here’s the online option. Then, with the results you make sure you get the right treatment.
And remember, it takes 12-18 months to grow out toenails. So, whatever treatment you do, you want to do for as long as it takes for the infected toenail to grow out. My podiatrist explained that’s the biggest factor— treating until it’s grown out completely.
