Hi everyone, I just got diagnosed with bilateral bunions (hallux valgus) and I’m trying to figure out what actually helps in real life. Hi everyone, I was just diagnosed with bunions on both feet (mild–moderate). X-rays showed no serious damage, just the bunions likely from wearing flat shoes like Vans/Converse. My doctor said to: Switch to supportive shoes with a wide toe box and use over-the-counter orthotics I’m trying to stop it from getting worse and reduce pain. My question is- What shoes or treatments helped you the most? See less

Make sure your shoe has a wide toe box. This is different from wide width shoes. Also, get custom made orthodics. They helped me for over 25 years. I like the Brooks shoes. Do not wear high heels. A low heel with a wide toe box. Surgery should be your last resort. Best to you!
