Hi, had a little bumb on left foot for a while and the right one popped a year ago. I Didnt know anything about bunnions before that. But now its extreme, noe shoes fit. Pain is horrible. Got some hoka wide shoes but even they hurt after a while. Any info on shoes i can try would be apretiated. Also its seems like there is alot of inflamation going on inside, has anyone tried cortison injections? Im so limited by this condition. Any other tips?

Not a fix but I have a slight one on my left foot which can become quite achey after wearing shoes all day. Mine isn't as inflamed as either of yours but I do have wider than average feet. So far and it feels the best it has for a while, I have been using silicone sleeves to protect that area of my foot when wearing shoes and going barefoot as much as possible. Hope you get some relief it's a horrible condition that has stopped me running for now which has a negative impact on fitness and weight so vicious circle. Oh and ditch the trainers with huge foam heels and get some that are flatter. I find newton running shoes fit nice without squeezing the foot with having wide feet and have a much lower heel, I found HOKA tight, saucony tighter still. Hope that helps.

Hokas are too narrow in the toe box. Maybe try Altras?

Tailor bunion. It's so painful. The issue can also be from your hips or your gait ie the way you walk.. a good podiatrist would be able to fit a mould for your foot to separate that toe. Intermittent fasting is a great way to rid the body of inflammation . I benefit from a great chiropractor every two weeks for adjustments. 💞

I have the same issue! Plus I have a Morton’s Neuroma (nerve impingement) I’m sure it’s from my bunion making my foot wider for the shoes I have. For the neuroma I need wide box shoes but the wide box shoes tend to hurt my bunion. 🤦🏼‍♀️ So far crocs are the only thing I can wear. Looks like I may be getting the insulated kind for winter. I’m contemplating surgery.

yes man, im not able to ski no more and running is now not pssisble. apretiate the answer, could you link the sleeves you mentioned? My feet are wide as well yes.. which newton model are you using?

I have a taping technique on YouTube that will help to protect the area and begin to stabilize the joint. The usual reason that any body part becomes inflamed is that it moves too much.

The Newton ones I wear most they don't do any more, I have had a couple of pairs of newton trainers and they have been far away the best I've tried and not had to use "wide" fit standard is fine. The closest to what I've got is probably https://newton-running.co.uk/.../all-shoes/1537/kismet-7...

I hope the links help. The reasoning behind my footwear choices are the following. 1. Newton has a lower heel so the foot feels more "in touch" with the ground and to me more stable as I have some new balance running trainers with a big fat heel which angle your foot down onto the ball of your foot putting the pressure where you really don't want it right now. 2. I think I have trouble all the way down the chain in terms of posterior strength/ balance through the back, hips, glutes and all the way down to the feet so the bunions are a result of imbalances. So I'm hoping to work on strengthening the whole body and improving balance to try and fix the issue long term. 3. depending on your work try not to wear shoes that squeeze your feet too much, if possible, shoes off always the best way. Hope I haven't rambled too much just wanted to try and help. Good luck!

ah the work stuff is worse, im a paramedic and autumn/winter is coming. No way that my boots are gonna fit… Thanks again, it was much help.

I'm a maintenance engineer, I have to wear boots too so my choice so far (don't know if paramedics need toe protection) but if you do get composite toe caps rather than steel, easier on your toes if you have wide feet and buy your own boots and get as wide as you can. 🙂

Hi, I'm new to the group and happened to scroll upon this post, I have a small tailor's bunion on my right foot and I'm just wondering if you have a link for your YouTube video on how to strap it, also can a tailor's bunion be reversed without surgery ?

this is my tailors bunion, it really hurts and it’s getting worse. Had it for 20+ years. What toe sleeves are best? I asked my Gp about operations but it seemed pretty epic surgery!
