Hi I'm getting MIS on the 11th November and it's my sons high school graduation on the 15th realistically how much pain will I be in I don't want to miss his graduation. What would be your best advice on getting through it for a few hours please is foot up on a chair going to be enough?

If you can get yourself a wheel chair with a leg support so you can have your leg out straight I think you will be okay. You will also need to make sure you keep on top of your medication. Also if you can put an ice pack in a freezer type bag so that you can put it under your knee. I think you will enjoy your son’s graduation. Just make sure everyone takes care off you so you can do as little as possible! Have a wonderful time

I honestly would reschedule the surgery if you can. It’s a long day celebrating your son and your energy is going to be low and your body really needs you to rest I would not be able to do it and I’m two weeks out.

Hi make sure you take your pain relief every four hours elevate your foot as much as you can that helped me when I had my bunion operation done in April.

I had surgery on a Friday and by Tuesday I was up and didn’t need a crutch except for long distance. Until then elevate, keep icing and take the pain pills.

I had MIS on June 16 and rode with my husband on June 19 - only 3 days later - to pick my daughter up from summer camp, eat at the family luncheon, and watch the final camp assembly. It was 1.5 hours each way - and I was at camp about 2 hours- and I was totally fine. I sat in backseat and propped up leg during the travel time and used crutches when at camp, but it wasn't really necessary to have the crutches - was really easier to heel step. My opinion is that you will be fine- but I know each person is different!
