I am getting ready to have bunion surgery in June and I am so nervous, I have neuropathy in my feet from taking chemotherapy 15 yrs ago . I am afraid the surgery is going to make my neuropathy worse. I already take 400mg of Lyrica a day for the pain. I want be able to take anything else if it makes the neuropathy worse. Has anyone else had a problem like this. The doctor says it should not be a problem because I no longer take chemotherapy and that he will be moving the nerves over while working on my bunion.

My biggest question is, has your doctor done many surgeries on people with neuropathy? If the answer is yes, and you trust your doctor, then you should have nothing to worry about.

My neurologist put me on 600 units of Alpha Lapoic Acid per day. I had neuropathy from chemo and within 2 weeks…huge difference. It’s an OTC enzyme so it won’t clash with any other meds.

I am your girl! Ok so I have been on Gabapentin (similar to Lyrica) for 7+yrs for my disease (NMO very similiar to Ms) I have now had both feet “done “ It did not make my neuropathy any worse ,even my “bad leg” wasn’t affected! My surgeon actually was happy I was already on the GABA-I had very Little nerve pain after I take 300mgx3. I was prescribed pain Meds for 5 days and after that just OTC. Good luck and feel free To reach out with questions of needed!

I have some neuropathy and was worried too. I'm 9 days PO and it didn't make mine worse.

So you take this medication for your neuropathy and no other type of drug like Lyrica?

BTW.. do you cancer girls still suffer from fatigue?

I have neuropathy severe. Does this medication take all your pain away, because my new doctor Keeps saying she wants to take me off Lyrica says I am on to high of a dose.

I have been in remission for 7 years and I’m always tired, sometime it’s hard to just walk across a room and I need to set down.
