I am now 9wks post-op.

I am now 9wks post-op. Well y’all, I returned to work today. I should say “yesterday” as it’s now well after midnight here (12:33am) and technically it’s a new day. Anyhoo. My shift went great! It went better than I thought it would honestly. I walked over 16,000 steps!!! My foot held strong for the first 6 hours of constant walking and standing. It did, however, start to swell a bit from then on . The swelling didn’t cause pain perse, but I could feel my incision site start to rub against my shoe. Thankfully, I was wise enough to put a nonstick foam border dressing in my purse as a “just in case”. It provided near instant relief from the friction. HALLELUJAH! My only “hiccup” is remembering to shift weight while walking. I noticed I’d return to overcompensating and correct it I’m clearly a “work in progress”. I’ll get there in due time. As for the swelling, although it’s not much, starting tmrw (today ), I’m gonna wear a compression stocking until I no longer need to. All in all, it was a successful return to work. The only thing I forgot was my darn login password to the electronic charting system. It took me 4 tries to figure it out . I’m so happy to be back in my element, though. I was SUPER happy to be with and around my residents again. They truly have a way of making work not feel like work, if you know what I mean. Continued healing to each and every one of you. #day1down
