I found ice packs helped me a lot. I'll put it on top if convenient or on bottom and lay the bottom of my foot on it. It hurts. And it will for a while. It's looking great. The stitches were the worst. Was so glad to get them out. You are not a wimp. I used ice when I stopped meds about 2 weeks. Keep it elevated and put ice wherever you can, even under your knee help. You can take that boot off except when walking.

I had minimally invasive surgery on my foot on 1/22.
I had minimally invasive surgery on my foot on 1/22. Pain has never been severe and I’ve kept on top of the medication. However, I see all these posts online about how easy and how great this was and I feel at a loss. While there is no excruciating pain- I’m a quite honestly very uncomfortable quite often. For the first time I had my foot unwrapped and tried to sleep that way last night and it was honestly horrible for me. I just don’t know if I expected to feel less or if I’m just a total wimp. I want to cry at the discomfort! To top it off I think they may have forgotten to take one stitch out! I’m supposed to be able to get out of the surgical shoe next Tuesday.

❤️🩹🙏 sending positive vibes for healing
Your foot looks about right! I had my right foot done on January 16th and last week on February 19th I left with my foot unwrapped. I was able to get my sneaker on with a carbon fiber insert. I totally understand your sleeping problem, same here. I sleep with the foot sandal. Last night I was able to sleep with just a sock on. I have good days and bad days! It’s just gonna take some more time. 😊
It does look like they left a stitch in your foot...I would go back to the doctor and have it checked. I'm surprised that they left the stitches in this long, but everyone's experience is different, and every doctor has a different way of doing this. I had my surgery 2 days after you did, and my stitches were out after 2 weeks. When I saw the doctor last week, he said I could transition to a shoe today. I won't lie...it's still uncomfortable. I can't put full weight on the ball of my foot and my big toe is swollen, sore and doesn't have full flexibility. So walking is still hard, but easier in a shoe than in the boot. I can say that every day gets a little better. Tylenol helps a lot, especially when I sleep. Hang in there! It will improve.
I had my surgery on 2/13 and I thought the first 5 days were horrible. Today I got my stitches out and they wrapped it again and told me to take the bandages off in 3 days. I’m in a surgical shoe or boot for 4 weeks. So that’s 6 weeks total. It’s strange that drs all do something different.
So you’re 5 weeks post op? Do you really want to see my foot 5 weeks after… Well, the picture I have is closer to 4 weeks, but it looks rough! You’re doing well! And actually, it’s encouraging to hear you say this because I remember feeling the EXACT same way! I think for some people there’s fast healing somehow. But it’s not abnormal to be like us! I had mine on 12/10 so I’m about 11 weeks I think. I’m just now starting to put a little pressure on the front of my foot, always with some kind of cushioning under it, like a slipper or a lose shoe. But I still have swelling and my big toe is stiff. The discomfort is mostly gone, other than swelling. I can walk without crutches, but I limp because of not being able to put full pressure on my foot. I hope this isn’t discouraging to you. I really wanted to encourage you! But yes, it can be slow. The picture I’ve attached was taken yesterday. It’s my right foot that was done (obviously).
How long is the recovery back to full strenght
Give it time. Did your surgeon tell you how to gently exercise the toe? I had surgery 9/11/2024 It takes time for the bone to fill in completely. I have just a tiny ache when I don’t wear my shoes with my orthodontic inserts.
Sleep with a cold pack on your foot. It will get better, i promise.
the first 5 days were my easiest! I followed the medication schedule to T. Honestly from day 6 it got worse. I have good days and bad days and just ok days. Hoping it gets better.
Well I'm only 2 weeks out so maybe it will get worse again; I sure hope not. I tried to schedule the next foot for 3 months later, but they won't even do it until they see how I recover. My dr said that that even the second foot can have a very different healing process. One foot can heal better than other. Something to look forward to if it is worse lol.
I hope it will all be easy for you! My nurse friend re-wrapped my foot for me and I have to say it made a world of difference for me. I slept so much better!
they told me to keep mine in sterile gauze but not to remove theirs for 3 days. Sounds like I should wrap it in gauze.
wow! That is your foot now or at 4 weeks? It looks so healthy and great! I feel like I know what you mean about putting pressure on the floor and feeling akward about it. Right now I can only put my foot on the floor if I have my surgical shoe on. I can’t even imagine eventually jumping around, doing yoga and working out at this point. I just hobble around. I’m excited and nervous to wear the sneakers next week.
I think I was just getting discouraged because on social media I swear I saw people who had surgery and in a week or two they can put their foot bare on the ground. I guess everyone is different and I need to remember that.
the picture was taken yesterday. 11 weeks post op. Thanks for the compliment. 😊 I do wish you a quick recovery! By the way, what’s the reason they made holes up the front of your foot?
I had minimally invasive bunionectomy. I was under the impression that I would have these tiny incisions and that it was an easy surgery. It’s not!
I did too, but not the same. They also didn’t use hardware for my foot. So maybe that’s why you have holes higher up on your foot and I only had two where my bunion was and then just above each of my toes. They had to break all of ny toes because I also had a neuroma. And a Taylor’s bunion.
they told me I could do ‘real’ workouts at 4 months but full recovery is a year.
Hereditary!
i didnt read all. But what caused you bunion
.im having same problems
ahh, not nice. But im sure you have family
do you have kids
i just hope the best for you.
if you say Herediatary
they didn’t tell me yet. I go for my 6 week check up next week so maybe then?
it’s a very gentle movement but made a difference
