I’m 2 weeks post MIS on left foot. I feel like I have something in between big toe and 2nd toe. Like I’m wearing flip flops. Anyone get that sensation?

I’m about three years out and I have that sensation still! I had it right after surgery and it drove me crazy and then it wasn’t terrible but always there. I wore a spacer for a long time because it would get really numb too but that doesn’t happen as much now. I’m sure it’s nerve damage and I’ll always have it🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s annoying 🥴🥴

Funny. I had this surgery because I was so tired of keeping things between these toes and a week out and I’m shill shoving gauze in to hold the 2 toe apart or I might have to wear an “appliance” to keep then apart.

If you still have dressings on - surgeons actually put the dressings in between the big toe and 2nd toe to keep the big toe joint “straight.” The symptoms will improve with dressing change / removal. If you don’t have dressings on - sometimes with a lateral release (small incision by the big toe joint closer to the interspace), can irritate the nerve that innervates the 1st interspace. This will improve with time and massage.

So how can a surgeon avoid that for his patients.

Thank you exactly what I have. Small incision on inside of left foot. I will try to massage. Surgeon didn’t do that on right foot. This is 2nd surgery. How long does it last?
