Hi Julie, the shoes you link to are wide width—-Wide width is wider in the midfoot, it still tapers in the toe box area. We deform our feet by wearing pointy toed footwear. We are born with wedge shaped feet with the widest part being the toe area, it’s baffling as to why there aren’t more anatomical shaped footwear styles in the mainstream stores. There are some great wide toe box shoes like Shapen and Origo and I see another one online called Zeazoo. The website has some recommendations that are worthwhile to look up. ,exactly this the rest of my foot is very narrow hence the difficulty finding decent fitting shoes ,I find sketchers relaxed fit best for every day but not really suitable for a wedding!

Yeah Kathryn, right? Its crazy that anatomically shaped footwear isn’t available in most stores! I’ve had a hard time figuring out where to get footwear, I’m getting better at it — I have five pairs of Altra Running Shoes now! Ordering direct from the Altra brand website gets free shipping and free return shipping, I ordered six pairs last fall (varying sizes and styles) and the returns for four pairs went smoothly. Altra Running Shoes have wide toe box to free our toes 🙂 my favourite Altra shoes to wear are the Altra Lone Peak style (but I switch them out to drive my car longer distances because of a heel design detail). I recommend the Altra Running Shoes, my quality of life has improved with the toe splay space 🙂

Yes! Topo are good, I have one pair and wear them gardening now 👍 I find the Topo push my balance forward onto my toes more than the Altra do. I’m liking my balance more central and more distributed- I’ve been learning so much about footwear. Like there seems to be three things that are key to footwear. 1. Toe splay space 2. “drop” which is the height of the heel part (zero drop means no extra height in the heel, with zero drop the entire sole is all on one level) 3. “stack”, which is how much material is between the feet and the ground

Hi Laura, have you seen that the Barefoot Brit Shop carries Origo? There is more toe space with Origo and Shapen so the bunions don’t worsen by wearing pointy toed tapered footwear.
