I’ve had my worst of my two extreme bunions operated on and corrected this past May. This coming May I will hopefully have the second fixed. My surgeon retired between the two operations. Here is are my questions. I work in school in Kindergarten. I’m pretty much always on my feet. 1.What wide toe box slip on warm tall winter boot is best. I need tall boot height if possible as I live in Canada in a high water table area with regular deep snow accumulation. 2.When did everyone have their second foot done and why? I’m trying to wait until end of April to guarantee my time off without the rush or pressure to return back to work at the start of a school year. What would work best and why? Your thoughts are welcome. Kindergarten and the beginning of the school year is not the greatest time to be missed. So I’m trying to avoid this time being impacted yet not missing too much during the school year. I know I can’t do both so… thoughts welcome. I will approach my new surgeon at my next appt in November with this information for discussion.

Hi Stephanie, I am looking for good boots too! I get that you want slip on for ease and speed of getting inside and out as well. They aren’t slip on but the last couple of winters I managed quite well with KEEN in the Greta style— but they lace up. It seems that there is an unmet market for wide toe box winter footwear! We did an online order for shoes from Cool East Market on the Danforth in Toronto and had excellent service ( had to return for sizing and they were great to deal with) Maybe contact them and they’ll get tall boots from one of their brands for you even if they don’t have them in stock? There is also some other sellers that I’ve yet to deal with like The Shoe Bus in Quebec. There is a store in Ottawa too, I’ll see if I can find the name and try to remember to come back and comment

Hi Stephanie, the store in Ottawa (and I think they sell online) is called Sole Freedom and I think there is a store in BC called Sole to Soul (probably sells online) as well. Good luck, hopefully there is some slip on boot out there with toe splay space
