I will be 9 weeks on Wednesday (both feet done). I hit 13,000 steps today, BUT I still walk stiff so my calves are on fire. They feel hard as a rock and I can't get them to soften up. I know it has to do with how I walk. Help! I will have more steps tomorrow. At this point, I think my calves hurt more than my toes/feet. Side note- I had three disolvable stitches popping out that I was convinced were never coming out. They FINALLY came out last night. I think all the walking pulled them loose. I am very happy about this! See less

Slow down, give it time - 13000 steps is a lot so soon post-op. Took me a lot longer to get to those numbers.

massage helped my tight calves. Now I go monthly and will do until I’m 6m post op. Currently 3.5m.

I am just over 8 weeks double bunion surgery- I have a 4.5 hour flight in the morning. I am really worried about how my feet will feel. Also, will the hardware set the scanner off while going through security? Has anyone flown so soon after surgery? I am going for work and the group I am going with wants to go to the San Diego Zoo tomorrow. That also terrifies me. I will be staying the hotel that the conference is in so I think I will be ok for the rest of the week. See less

Pfister Definitely see if you can find some compression socks at an airport shop. If not, try to get them when you arrive at your destination. Walgreens or CVS or another drugstore should have them. My hardware has never set off airport sensors. I agree a wheelchair is a good idea for the zoo. Good luck!

Christina O'Neil Don’t worry about scanner! If it isn’t too late, definitely get compression socks. You can honestly probably even get them at the airport! They help with swelling. I’d also highly recommend getting a wheel chair for the zoo. I wouldn’t recommend all that walking so soon post op!

I think the more you try to walk, the better it gets. Just rest when you well. Congratulations! Both feet done at the same time! Wow!
