My right foot was essentially mangled during my bunion surgery in 2021. Corrective surgery in 2022, but foot is destroyed. One of my issues is the big toe sitting right on top of second toe. It’s causing all sorts of secondary issues but was curious if anyone had any tips to help. I tried toe separators this morning for a bit while home and it seemed to help. Thanks in advance for replies.

Have you considered big toe fusion. I had this done nearly two years ago and it has been good.

Have you tried taping them side by side? And I’m sorry about your surgery. I’m dealing with a bunch of issues from mine as well that are upsetting.

Hmm. I haven’t. But will look into it. I curse the original doctor everyday. He destroyed my quality of life. And I have no recourse. What issues do you have?

I had bunion surgery and then ankle surgery a year later because my ankle somehow got messed up from the bunion surgery. At that point, my big toe had angled way in again so I had bunion revision surgery a year ago. My big toe is staying pretty well aligned now, but all my toes on that foot get stiff, crampy, and uncomfortable and still swell. Also, a lump formed near the ball of my foot after the first surgery. It didn’t get resolved with the revision surgery and it is getting bigger and moving. Today it hurt quite a bit to walk on so I’m trying some gel pads. Basically it’s just been one problem after another and distresses me every single day.

I had a holistic doctor suggest Using cane between the toes to keep them separated. I already had the surgery scheduled so I didn’t try it.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I used toe spacers before my surgery. The silicone ones were too hard on my toes. I found a foam type that helped.
