So, I’m at 2.5 weeks post op.

So, I’m at 2.5 weeks post op. The pin that is in my foot has shifted due to some thread from the gauze that caught it. Now it’s going through a nerve and lighting up everytime I move. Even the boot hurts to put on because of the pressure. She is taking it out it 3 weeks early next Wednesday. And I have to manage the pain until then. This is awful.

It is still straight so I think ok. Mine it move doctor cut short and remove after 4 week

I’m 3 weeks post op and have exactly the same symptoms and have not majorly caught my pin . I’ve been doing a lot of research into the electric shot type pain and it appears to be part of a normal recovery so try not to worry ❤️‍🩹

I don’t know how y’all do it with that pin sticking out 😬. My procedure did not require any hardware so I did not experience that, but I don’t think I could have looked at that sticking out of my toe 🫣

Your story sounds just like mine! I had gauze that got caught in the pin. As the surgeon was changing the dressing at two weeks post op, he grazed the pin with the gauze and my nerves fired and sent me through the roof! I kept thinking that if just changing the gauze was this bad, how would the pin removal be, but it was totally painless. The nerves around the pin had healed over the next couple of weeks and those zaps stopped happening. Hang in there! I had a beautiful final result and it’s all worth it in the end.

Dr xrayed it last week after it happened and said it was still in place and doing what it was supposed to do. She said the shift is causing the pain but omg the pain is awful

yes I do know that. That’s why we are just being careful until it’s been three weeks and then taking it out after three weeks. I can’t wait

The pin shift happened over a week ago and the I’ve been riding it out waiting on the 3 week mark. My results look really good which is the only reason I have not begged for her to take it out. Thanks for the encouragement!

I have two questions…did you feel relief when the pin was removed? My pain from the shift has been non stop and I’m hoping when it comes out, that will help. Also when the pin comes out, do I still need the wrapping or can my foot breath? I also feel the wrapping is making it worse because it’s so sensitive to touch right now..

I did feel a ton of relief, but the relief was mostly because there was no longer a wrapping constantly touching the pin. I walked out of the office with nothing but a band-aide covering the hole where the pin was. Your foot will feel very tender while walking, but it’s nice to be able to ditch the surgical boot and wear a normal tennis shoe. Now I’m just dealing with swelling and stiffness but I know that’ll get better with time.

Thank you. My pin is being removed 3 weeks earlier than originally planned since it shifted so I still have to wear the boot for 3 more weeks. But I still see why I’d need that wrapping anymore. I’m just looking forward to the pain associated with the shifted pin to be gone
