This is my 5½ foot, my sneaker, and the boot I was given. Any advice? Leg elevation pillow, shower chair, non-slip waterproof cover for showering, laptop adjustable bed desk with cup holder, grabber for picking things up, gel ice packs with cover with adjustable strap, small light weight walker (I am 5', 105 lbs) a heavy walker that was given to me will be used for getting up and down on toilet, body wipes, dry shampoo, an extra small boot for my size 5½ feet (will take it to Dr for approval), extra wide leg pants, and Boost. And my sister recommended a quad cane for getting up and down bed and chair; she used it after back surgery and it does help. Anything I forgot? The PA took off the steri-strips (forgot to take a pic of that before they rewrapped). I told her that it hurts in the incision area now (not the toe or foot). She said that is normal, and it is due to the healing of the incision and the scar tissue building up. She said that when I start PT, they will massage the incision site to help break up the scar tissue. One more week before I am released to start transitioning out of ortho shoe and into sneakers and start PT. Three week post op vist today. Footwear question: In one week, I will be released to start transitioning out of the boot into regular shoes. I assume that I will need bigger/ wider sneakers? So how do you handle that when one foot is your regular size and the post-op foot needs a bigger size? Do I buy the same pair of sneakers in two sizes (different sizes for each foot)? I’m still in a boot, but my doctor is allowing me to start driving (with a soft shoe). I tried a Croc sandal- and felt ok around the neighborhood, but had a lot of pain for 3 days afterwards and went NWB again for one. Maybe a stiffer sandal like a Teva? I feel like in Oofos I wouldn’t feel the car properly. What works for you? Shared post Lisa de Sercey I had my 6 week check up and was released to walk in a regular shoe. Of course I can’t wear a regular shoe because of the swelling so I’m I have a beautiful ortho shoe. It hasn’t hurt nearly as bad as I anticipated. Excuse the sorry pedicure I tried to do it myself.
