****update*** not fungal.

****update*** not fungal. Lab tests finally back. Meanwhile it's much improved in appearance just with 6 weeks of no nail polish and 2 applications of Vicks. The lesson I think is people can't tell just by looking. Pharmacist was sure. But wrong. Hello! I'm new here. Wondering if anyone thinks this looks like a fungal infection? The other possible diagnosis is damage from nail polish (it started around two years ago when I had gel nails done, and I have been covering up that ever since with normal nail polish. My toes have rarely been without polish for about 30 years. If it is fungal then in the UK who can help? Private podiatrist ? Or will pharmacist or GP do anything useful? Thanks in advance.

I was the same with shellac and have ended up with this now on two big toe nails and some finger nails… those pedicure places don’t care or say anything , just pass it on to other clients 🤦🏻‍♀️ You can go to the GP and give cuttings but it looks like fungal .. I am smothering mine in Vicks vapo rub morning and evening and covering … slight improvement but early days .. I may try the tablet from the GP but you have to have a blood test to check how your liver is before starting it …

I am due to take some clippings in to the GP next week. Pharmacist saw it and said definitely fungal and would need oral antifungals. GP has seen picture and isn't sure and wants to test before beginning treatment. Meanwhile today I tried Vicks. Used it at lunchtime and just now on my right foot toes only.
