Update: Well I overdid it again and am feeing so so much excruciating pain this evening in the ball of my foot and nerve pain. Why can’t I catch a break?😞 Ok almost 8 weeks post lapidus bunionectomy, and walking around with the hoka tennis shoes. Still having pain in arch due to post op bruise. Btw bruises take forever to heal!! Still having pain in ball of foot but pull a metatarsal pad on and it’s helping! Going to town today and tomorrow. Little by little I’m getting there. Still trouble with sleeping but hopefully that’s gonna get better too. This is a process! Open to ideas for better sleeping. Currently on gabapentin for nerve pain, Benadryl, CBD gummy and Tylenol/ibuprofen. Really don’t wanna take any more prescriptions. Tried melatonin and magnesium. Not really sure if that helped or not. I do still ice and elevate at night but I’m a side sleeper so I end up sleeping in my side and wake up in pain in that ball of my foot mostly.lch Update: Well I overdid it again and am feeing so so much excruciating pain this evening in the ball of my foot and nerve pain. Going to town today and Shared post Lacy Jean Nesler *Update: had my 6wk post op snd my doc thinks i have fluid buildup in the pad of my foot where the pain is originating from. She’s starting me on steroids in hopes that solves the problem. It would be fabulous if that was it! Xrays showed full healing of the bones and she was very impressed. Fingers crossed that the steroids help Please help, I’m in so much pain. I had my lapidus bunionectomy on 10/24 and am continuing to have so much nerve pain, exacerbated by walking. I’m able to partially bear weight with boot with crutches. The culprit seems to be the ball of my foot and the bruise in my arch(that’s fading slowly). Already taking gabapentin. Tried to wean bc I’m stubborn and hate taking meds, but decided that’s not a good idea. Doc suspects CRPS(complex regional pain syndrome) but from what I’ve read, ppl with that can’t walk. Walking actually doesn’t bother me much, it’s when I stop that it hurts. I’m icing and elevating. Sleep is rough. Taking CBD gummies to sleep. What am I missing? Am I too impatient? Yes I was an idiot and fully walked on it 2 weeks in which I acknowledge was dumb and may have set me back. Shared post Cassidy DeRego Hi everyone, I know many of you are familiar with my complicated history and my recent struggle with bone infection and ultimately having a big toe amputation about 4 weeks ago. Last year in November 2024, I had a revision triple arthrodesis among some other things. Because of complications and several additional surgeries due to bone infection, I have not walked on my foot much at all since that surgery about a year ago. I am currently 1 week into the transition to shoes after walking in the boot for 3 weeks before toe amputation surgery and 3 weeks after surgery. I am completely familiar with the pain that comes with the transition to shoes. I was wondering if others have had a sharp stabbing/pinching pain in the mid to lateral hindfoot/ankle while transitioning into shoes and it was normal and leveled out over time. I have the pain to a much lesser degree in the boot and it happens when I bend the foot and ankle during the push off phase of gait. I of course have other aches and pains that I know for sure are normal parts of the process. It is significant pain that makes walking difficult, especially right after rest and any prolonged WB and it is getting worse as I'm walking more. I will see my surgeon on the 28th and of course will discuss with him then. So far the infection is gone but since I have had nonunions in the past I worry that it could be happening again. I was just hoping others have had the same type of pain and went on to have a successful recovery. Attached are my x-rays. My entire midfoot and hindfoot is fused.
