What all can you tell me about mtp joint (big toe) replacement and fusion? Did you do replacement first? Im ready that fusion takes longer to heal but more long term success. Replacement tend to not last as long but faster recovery. Im active. And I want to have a summer. The last two have sucked because if foot pain. We hike, we camp we ride horses. Ive been riding, but its getting harder. Im 42 if that makes any difference. Im on my feet fir work. Recovery is important. Bit im tired of this ajd I want it to he done. This will be 2nd surgery on this foot. Last time I was in a cast for 3 months. I really dont want to do that again. But afyer shots, PT and "time" its not getting any better.

I talked to a chiropractor about fusion he said he treated a man with constant back trouble after having it done , I had couple Dr's recommend barefootvwalking alot however I have a ton of other issues is the reason it was mentioned so make your own decision but I can't imagine walking without your foot bending
Thats what im afraid of. And getting my foot into a riding boot. I dont wear heels or anything. So not worri3d about that. But I need to be able to wear my boots.
