Why does my pinky toe run into the outside of the Toebox?

Archive date 47 archived replies

Why does my pinky toe run into the outside of the Toebox? Am I wearing the shoes too small? I know I’ve been buying them too big lately as there is a lot of space from the end of the toes to the front of the shoe. Could it be that the pinky is in a part of the shoe that it doesn’t belong in? I’ve been on this question for too long now

Need a wide toe box. Most shoes are too narrow. Try an Asics Kayano Gel at the store, see if the box is wide enough for you.

Yep. Average shoes are a B width. Most shoes marked "wide" are a C width. You may need a D or E width or wider.

I also gotta ask, (sorry if y’all years this before) I drive an 05 Scion xB and I find it uncomfortable. I also wonder if the angle my ankle and foot are forced into are pulverizing my feet. Idw to sell the car bc it’s so hard to find another affordable car, especially since idk how to tell of the car is breaking my body. Can anyone lend some advice?

notice the point I made about the pinky toes being in the incorrect spot. I wonder if I’m onto something or not.

Notice the shoe on the left is much narrower in the toe box than the one on the right. The left is the Venture the right is the Kayano.

I have a wide toe box issue...there are very few non-minimalist/barefoot shoes I can wear because of it. The Kayano is currently one I can.

Not tight in the toes, but I need a lightly snug midsole to hold my tendons together. I like to be able to splay my toes though

I don't buy wide. The toe box is naturally wide. You would really need to try them on in person. I would suggest looking for a running store and seeing if they can do a gait analysis and if they have the software that does a digital fit.

No, only my toe box is wide. If I wear a wide, my foot slides around inside if I'm on a hill, etc. (my yard is a hill)

Hmmmm Still anxious since I can’t answer my questions. Used to wear DENALI birch for years and now they don’t fit. I’ve tried other trail shoes but many aren’t wide enough. all these running shoes squeeze as a way to secure your foot and I don’t like it, but idk what else to buy. 😞. I’ve bought hundreds of pairs of shoes. Returned most but got stuck with some of them. Unhappy as hell

If you have a Walking Company nearby or even within an hour, they have a whole system you can go through to find the right insole for you, and they have their own (not Superfeet). Our's closed and I was seriously bummed.

I used to love brooks adrenaline and they were my go-to but this last time (I JUST got these Kayanos a couple of weeks ago), the adrenalines just were a smidge too narrow in the toe box.

I don’t think the adenosine are as wide as I would like and the ASICS I first mentioned are smaller. I may stick with the brooks

If you haven't tried, you could also try Altra...they have a more natural foot shape, meaning their toe box is bigger. But they're not for everyone.

There is a Minimalist/Barefoot shoe group...they have more knowledge about what shoes fit wider toe boxes but they're minimal/barefoot shoes...which means there's not a lot of support (many you can add an insert or orthotic, though if needed). I would try the Minimalist Shoe Buy/Sell/Trade group (it's not just for BST, you can just get info in there, too), just to get info. If you measure your feet length and toe box width, they would have better suggestions for shoes meant to fit actual feet...most are just not meant to fit real feet.

I usually by my shoes bigger. I have to slide my foot all the way down into the toe box so that the extra space resulting from too big of shoe is in the back by the heel. Otherwise my pinky toe kills me from running into the side of the shoe. It doesn’t do this when I leave the extra space at the heel.
