10 weeks post op and my big toe is still curving and going behind my 2nd toe. I've been wearing a spacer since around week 3 and taping for the last 4 weeks...still nothing. Thoughts? Anyone had similar?

My left foot does this and actually looked almost exactly like your foot. If your toe itself naturally curves and they didn't straighten it, this is the best it will get. It appears they only straightened your 1st metatarsal to address the bunion bump/ joint.
I’m afraid it’s never going to improve you will need to have more surgery if you want it to be straight

I had a scarf osteotomy in June and my foot looked similar to yours. My toe is now straight and does not look like this.
My foot is the same. I had scarf/ akin and wore a spacer for ages but the toe was never straight and I have quite a curve still
Do you have flat feet? Because I had scarf & akin an it reoccurred very quickly for me sadly. If you've got flat feet then I'd get arch support insoles.
What kind of surgery did you have! I don’t even see an incision on the top of your foot!

My toe does that too. I have to get another surgery to fix it because the tissue is pulling it
It's just really strange! I had scarf/akin osteotomy so there is a screw/pin actually in the toe itself

yes the joint is not lined properly the head is facing too medial

He is just as baffled by it! He sent me for an ultrasound after my 6 week appointment incase it was a muscle/tendon issue but that came back fine. I have a follow up appointment with him this week, so i'll see what he says then but i don't see much difference between now and the 6 week appointment i had with him sadly!
Gosh, I hope he can figure it out because I do understand your concern. If he has to do anything further, maybe a more aggressive angle on the Akin cut would help. Seems your big toe really has its comfy spot and doesn’t want to be told otherwise lol. The good news is, he is looking to get to the bottom of it. And I’m sure there’s a solution to be found. Hang in there! 🤗
It really does seem to have it's comfy spot and not budging at all! That is very true, he is a good surgeon so hopefully can get to the bottom of it☺️I remember you from a previous post, I hope you're recovering well?
it’s very likely your surgeon is not baffled they just not telling you the truth that it was under corrected 
Kèr Rí That’s so sweet of you to remember and ask 🤗 Right foot is doing very well. My 2nd toe is still floating a little but not nearly as much as it was at first. So definitive improvement over time and my Dr says once the swelling resolves complete it should lay nicely. I’m a big sweller so it’s something that I’ll probably be dealing with for quite awhile but that’s ok. I’ll get there eventually. The right foot is about 10 weeks out. Interestingly, I had the surgery (exact same procedures) on my left foot today. They were basically deformed twins lol. So starting all over, sigh. Fingers crossed this one goes well too. 2nd toe is significantly floating just like the right foot but I’m hoping for the same improvement with time. Like you, I have a lot of confidence in my surgeon. Fret not, we are in good hands 🤗 I haven’t had a good look at my left foot yet… only what is poking out of the bandages which is basically just toes. This kind of stuff gives me the creeps so I really just don’t want to see the carnage for as long as I can avoid it 😂 Trying to add some pictures but my app keeps crashing when I try. I’ll keep trying to post some update photos below. 👣
Ahh brilliant, i'm glad your right foot is doing great! Sounds like the 2nd toe will sort itself out over time, fantastic😊So brave of you getting your other foot done too, well done! I hope the recovery for that goes well for you! At least you know what to expect etc🥰

were you ever offered lapiplasty or lapidus?
Have you done anything different? Did you use a toe spacer etc after surgey?
I started using it two weeks after when the bandages came off. Even before I used it, I could see my toe had been straightened.
How long post op are you and do you get any pain with it?
3 years post op, and no pain. I did some pain from a screw but had the screws taken out
I'd say my arch feels higher on my surgery foot than the other now! This curve happened almost at week 2 as the bandages came off, so it hasn't even been a recent progression or anything!

Ker, the only thing concerning is that your surgeon is baffled by it. Are you near a major academic hospital? If so I would get a 2nd opinion from the head of the dept. I wouid not rely on medical opinions from this site.
You can wear a toe separator till hell freezes over. It won’t help. Trust me… been there! My surgeon tried to tell me “You don’t want a big space between your toes”. After seeing the top orthopedic foot surgeon in my state I was told “ first of all they did the wrong procedure. And second, I have so much nerve damage from the 1st f’d up procedure, he would not touch it for fear of causing more damage.”
Probably need to actually fuse the big toe so it doesn’t curve at all.
Unfortunately my toe has done the same thing, even after two surgeries.

about a year ago. I also have ankle issues from being in a boot and being flat footed that require another surgery. I honestly don’t know lol. He shaved a bone and fused a bone 😬
