Shoe Recommendation for Severe Bunion - cushioned/extra wide Good Day, My mother and I have a trip coming up - it will involve quite a bit of walking. My mother has a MASSIVE bunion (large toe) that should have been removed over a decade ago. She did not because she was afraid of surgery and now regrets it. The damage is done - her toes overlap and the bottom of the ball of her foot essentially lacks cushion. Her bunion also HURTS so avoid anything that touches it - she doesn't wear shoes. She only can tolerate Thong Sandals - specifically Oofos Thong Sandals. Slider Sandals don't work Living in FL - Oofos Thong Sandals work. But they are impractical in travel/colder/harsher terrain. So looking for options - extra wide (otherwise we have to size up a lot making walking dangerous in rougher terrain) and super cushion. OR OPEN to any creative advice/thoughts/ideas!! A lot of the "wider" shoes - I don't know, aren't exactly wide in the appropriate location where the bunion lies. Podiatrist wasn't much help - said surgery won't do much for her at this point and just to find something that works. Thanks!

I love my max cushioning skechers!! I've had 7 foot surgeries and it's all i can wear.

I strongly recommend her to find a local pedorthist...they specialize in this type of thing.

I've tried it for myself (highest rated one in my area) - I have super flat feet (unlike my mom who has nice arches) - their selected was quite limited. But I guess I could try giving it a shot with her feet.

Propét has big toe box and comes in extra extra wide sizes. Every pair I've had is comfy right out of the box. They also accommodate orthotics.
