I got a popliteal nerve block after the surgery while I was still under anesthesia, I didn't feel my foot until 4 days later and slept fine every night and went back to desk work hours after surgery. Good luck! I hope you get rest.

I rotated between lying on back with foot raised on pillows and lying on 'good' side with pillow between knees & hurt foot slightly behind on 2 pillows. Gives back a rest. First 2 weeks got about 5 hrs a night but just into wk 3 & had 7.5 hrs sleep last night!! It gets better!

Essentials (in my opinion ) :- wedge for elevation, ice packs, painkillers (paracetamol and ibuprofen), shower seat (often on freecycle), plastic full leg cover for shower. Nice to haves:- full foot cryo cuff for ice water by aircast, back support cushion, trays/overlap table, knee scooter.

Lizzie Gee Definitely a raised foot rest, Bio oil to rub into wound after you have all dressings off, I also bought Nuage daily hydrating cream for dry skin from Home Bargains which was £1.99 or 99p I can’t remember which, moisturising bath or shower gel for you wound once dressings are off, Water wet wipes are invaluable, a bedside drawer or bag with everything you need close at hand, pen, writing pad, tissues, some goodies to cheer you up, books, tv remote etc etc.,lots of paracetamol. Lots of patience during your recovery, especially the first 2 weeks, get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, even though that means more bathroom trips! I’m at 8 weeks now after having a hammer toe pinned and my big toe had the bunion removed and was fused. Take care Michelle and I hope all goes well for you

Support Group(: For the crazy people who had both feet done at once...thoughts? I work at a school and I'm off for the summer ...Dr said I can do both at once.....for those who have....how do you get around to use bathroom and shower? I have a high pain tolerance and don't mind being stuck at home for the whole summer....my husband will help and my kids will come and go also to help

I had both done! Lapidus bunion correction and Akin osteotomy. For severe bunions. I’m 5 weeks post op. Honestly, I think if you’ve got the support it’s definitely worth it to just get it over and done with in one go. What has your doctor advised in
