Hi Bunion Buddies! This year has been filled with 2 foot surgeries, one on each foot. My r-foot is 9 months out that a adductoplasty - not sure spelled right- with toe release. It was more complex and took 2 months till I was able to walk and then another month till I was in a shoe. I also did pt which helped but still having feeling in my arch and side of my foot is still sore. The l-foot surgery, I am 4 weeks out and it was hardware removal and MIS surgery plus hammer toe correction. The pin is already out. I am able to walk partial since surgery. All in all the surgeries have been good and I am able to walk in shoes -right foot- so much better. Not in a shoe yet with the left foot. I am glad I got the surgeries done as I had tried everything before the surgery and nothing was going to correct my foot but surgery. I will say that it takes effort and patience and trust in your dr and time to make these surgeries beneficial. Like I said my r-foot I am still feeling a pinch or something in my arch but going to give it awhile to see if it subsides. But in the meantime, I feel all of it was worth the effort in getting done. Feet are very complex and it seems everyone has a different kind of surgery. But I am glad to have a group to talk to and can relate to while healing. Many Blessings!

I’m also 9mo out on my right foot👍🏻I had the same experience as you, and glad I had it done; I had 3 things done on same foot same day (bunion/hammer toe/remove nail bed on small toe so ingrown nails would stop coming back)… The bunion and small toe no problem, but the pin they put in hammer toe made the toe too stiff and seems to pull on the area below the toe, and feels like a marble is under my toe… What was it you had removed? I’m starting to wonder if I should have this pin removed if it’s possiable 🤔I wish the pins were more flexible😏

Same here wishing the pins were more flexible. I had my pin in for almost 4 weeks and now it is out and feels so much better. Hopefully your pin gets out soon but all I know is to be careful of it so the toe can heal. I had hardware and pins that were inside my toe removed and placed there from 1st surgery on my left foot. Be patience as your bones need to heal. Keep me updated on your progress.

Thanks Joan, this is very helpful I’m going to ask my Dr. in January 2027 (that will be a year)if mine can be removed (mine is actually a screw) it’s too long and now not able to bend and hurts often 😖

Foot surgery is pretty brutal. Ive just had plaster changed in my 2nd foot done this year. Feels like you lose a minimum of 6 months of your life for recovery. Keep up the positive outlook

I’m 11 days post op and I’m already over it! No weight bearing for 8-10 weeks..,

It is really hard to be no weight bearing. I was 6 weeks and just made a list of things to do sitting and it really helped. I was 2 months no weight bearing on the left foot 12 years ago but was working parttime. I started my family tree, made book books- on Amazon, or you can read, paint, or something you always wanted to do. Really hope the weeks pass by quickly for you.
