I had a bunionectomy and a hammertoe surgery on my left foot and the bunion came back worse than before. I’m afraid to have another surgery on my feet. I have tried every toe separator there is on the market. Now I just buy rolls of gauze and fold them and wrap them and tape them around my big toes every day and that alleviates the pain of my toes leaning so far.

How long ago did you have your surgery? My surgeon told me the new way they do it now there is no chance of it coming back as this was one of my questions pre surgery. Also I wouldn’t go back to the same surgeon if this was the outcome!

They fused my toe so I don’t think there’s any danger of it coming back but the healing time is so much longer.

I had it done about 5 years ago. I would never go back to that guy again. It was a very painful recovery and I just can't see myself doing this again. My husband is no longer here with me, he passed away. He was the one that was my nurse when I was home. I miss him so much.

I’m so sorry about your husband. I did my surgeries last year as minimally invasive and my recovery time was minimal, the right foot was the worst because I couldn’t drive for a couple weeks. I would definitely say you should get another opinion because having gauze between your toes cannot be comfortable!

I'm so used to wearing the gauze that when I forget to put it on, I'm very uncomfortable

I did not have lapiplasty, I just had minimally invasive. I have three screws in my big toe - no plates. I was walking on my foot in a boot same day as the surgery and in a sneaker in 2 weeks.
