I’m so depressed. I’ve been dealing with not being able to fit into shoes since last October. I took a day off work bc of the pain and I’m so depressed at home alone. I’ve seen so many specialists idk what to do . I want to take the dog on a walk. I want to get out an experience life. I want to go on a freakinf vacation. I’m so limited in what I can do and I’m totally emotionally devastated by all this. I don’t kno if I need an insert and I am so bad at finding one for me. None of the fancy shoe store have been helpful. Very depressed.

Gabe, I have 6 pairs of custom orthotics; none of which I could tolerate with my conditions. I use Dr Scholl’s Running Insoles. I add a met pad inside them and/or wear a gel met pad that sticks to the bottom on my foot. I also tape my toes(at the base) to control the curling. You can find utube directions about where to place met pads and how to tape hammertoes. It helps me to walk a little but not much. Don’t give up on finding treatment but also proceed with caution. I know my first surgery made things so bad I had to wear a surgical boot or shoe until I had the second surgery. The second surgery did help my second toe somewhat. It didn’t help my third toe and definitely made my fourth toe worse. All I’m saying is don’t jump into surgery without seeking and seriously adhering to conservative treatments first.

I’m frustrated bc I’ve tried all the equipment and it’s usually uncomfortable/ hard to keep in the right spot let alone putting it in the correct spot to begin with. I’m actually in a pair of dr schools but they’re too big. I keep getting them too big and wide bc it hurts when I wear shoes that are close to my foot size. I wish I could find a specialist that knew how to help me bc when I look things up on YouTube it’s not the same as getting hands on help.

I’m talking about the insoles, not the shoes. They are the only ones I can tolerate. I put the in Brooks Dyad or Saucony Echelon athletic shoes. Believe me, I’ve tried so many insoles.
