Cold therapy machine, elevation pillow, shower boot. If you are not immediate weight bearing, you will need to figure out your strategy: crutches, knee scooter or walker?

My surgery is next Friday and I’m super anxious.

Ice on/off and elevate 99% of the time for at least the first two weeks!
Bunion double ostetomy Hammertoe correction Lesser metatarsal ostetomy 3 procedures for this foot 😥
Lots of ice packs. I was able to elevate my foot in the back seat, as well as ice on the way home from surgery. Don’t let the swelling start. I used a cardboard box with a foot hole cut out to keep the covers off my foot. With it I could move around in the bed pretty easily
Just had mine this morning Best of luck So far pain meds working great 👍
Things to have at the ready: 1. Refrigerated gel packs. At least 4 so you can alternate. 20 minutes on/off. 2. OTC pain meds. 3. OTC stool softeners. Narcotics can bring on constipation! 4. A Vitamin D3 supplement. I took it to promote bone healing while I was recuperating. 5. Something to use as a bedside/couch side table so that your basic necessities are within reach. 6. Items for entertainment (books, magazines, adult coloring books, knitting/crocheting items), etc. 7. Subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, etc. 8. Elevation pillow (if you prefer). I used regular pillows. 9. Ready-made frozen meals (microwavable) to get you through the 1st week-2wks. I also purchased some Skillet Meals from Family Dollar. Simple & quick, so I wasn’t standing too long. (Frozen roasted veggies were my go-to initially). 10. Get some high-protein snacks/foods. They help with muscle & bone healing. 11. Eat fiber-rich snacks/foods as well. They’ll help with digestion (even with the stool softeners). 12. Wash basin! I used it to take “bird baths” until I was cleared to shower! 13. Bed Bath Wipes helped keep me clean and fresh as well. 14. Wet wipes were great for toileting, too! 15. Travel neck pillow. It was a game changer for me while sitting up on the couch and falling asleep. 16. Comfy pj’s, if you don’t have any already. Wear comfortable clothing on surgery day! Yes! I’d say request a pt referral. I understand that some patients don’t/didn’t require pt but it’s an important part of the healing process. Wishing you a successful procedure and a smooth recovery journey.
I had mine yesterday morning. Was very anxious. Nerve block and meds have also been critical.
Knee scooter, leg elevation support, shower chair and waterproof calf cover, tv and books! Plus a positive attitude to keep you going, look at the big picture, it gets better... Love your toenail polish, great colour...am looking forward to doing that 😊
Stay ahead of pain medicine, get probiotics to help with stomach after antibiotics, pain medicine etc. wash hair night before , shower agin that morning. Lots of hydration
Mine is on the 24th and everything I’m seeing everyone going through is scaring me
I agree with all of the above. I actually used this for my 2nd foot and found it easier to put my knee on the seat 😊
with the cold therapy machine, my dr suggested a pad to put over my padding and surgical “shoe” rather than the ice boot. What did you get?
Before and after
hoping your recovery goes well🧡
Nancy, I was petrified and cancelled mine once. I am now 3 days post op and surprised how good I feel. I had extensive surgery. Just bored sitting with foot elevated. Don’t be scared.
What type of surgery are you having. Good luck with it
Ice packs! Behind ur knee and ankle and stay on top of ur pain meds if u have to put an alarm on. Ur whole body is going to hurt just by getting up and going to the rest room
