On tomorrow, I’m having a right foot lapis with Aiken, second hammer toe, repair, and weil osteotomy. I am kind of freaked out at this point the thought of laying around and not doing much of anything for the next few weeks has me crazy. I don’t mind the thought of the pain. I don’t mind the thought of the surgery, I’m just terrified of the recuperation. I’ve never been one to lay around. Then as soon as possible I want to get the left foot done to try and shorten the recuperation. My doctor didn’t want to do them at the same time because he feels that his patients who haven’t done at the same time don’t do as well as the patients who have them done separately. I’m trying my best to follow the doctors recommendations.

Good luck! I too had trouble sitting still but managed two weeks of 99% foot elevation and that meant minimal swelling and pain. Try to keep foot up as much as possible with icing 20 minutes per hour and your recovery will go better. I took ice to the surgery and used it on the way home with my foot up on back seat.
