I had neuroma removed in December. Helped tremendously

This past January I’ve had my 2nd revision surgery trying to resolve multiple non-union. And this one isn’t any better but recently classified as delayed-union and I’m now using Exogen Bone Stim. However my question today isn’t about the union. Throughout all 3 surgeries for past 3 years, I have been dealing with a terrible pain on the center of the ball of my foot. Circled in photo. It’s actually more painful than the non union. It prevents me from walking correctly. I walk on the outer edge of my foot which then creates other pain in my ankle and joints. Throwing my biomechanics off. The pain is hot burning sensation when I walk (not when rested) and it feels like a lump I’m walking on. Also almost like I’m walking on the bone directly on that spot. You can visibly see swelling in that area it seems. I thought it may go away but it’s been 3 years and still not. I’ve also started to develop claw toes particularly in the 2nd and 3rd. I don’t know if it’s Neuroma or Metatarsalgia or something else. But the surgeon always seems to not worry about it when I complain about the pain. Focusing only on the surgical site and union. I have tried metatarsal pads, custom orthotics with metatarsal support, carbon fiber insoles, different shoes (hoka, brooks, altra). Cream’s, inflammation remedies. Nothing works and it extremely painful to walk. Any thoughts on a remedy. Thanks.

If it's painful, I would get a second opinion.
I got a painful lump there with my first bunion surgery 4 years ago. Then I had bunion revision surgery a little over a year ago and he was hoping to fix that problem. Nope, lump’s still there and now is expanding, covering even more of that area. He said it is the metatarsal bones but didn’t have a solution for me. I wear sneakers with really soft and squishy soles so that helps most of the time with the pain.
if you think it's possibly a neuroma, have you tried getting an ultrasound regarding the neuroma? I've had neurectomies (removed) on both feet. I would get another opinion from someone who wasn't the surgeon who did your surgeries. My revision was stalled. it only started to start to fuse about 6 months in, and it's been slow to fuse. sorry you're going through this. xo
Plantar plate tear?
you can have neuroma removed? No one has said it’s neuroma but if it is how does it get removed. Surgery?
I went to head of surgical podiatry at our hospital. He had to remove screws from bunion surgery that backed out and the nerve. It’s better. Not best. But not suffering. Walking. I had a hammer toe too form the first surgery. Differ t dr first surgery
yes.
what type of doctor checks for it. A podiatrist or did your ortho surgeon.
I’ve had about 10 second opinions in the past couple years.
I'm so sorry
sounds similar. I’ve been told fat pad has moved and no solution for that. Could try injecting Botox. I’ve been told the multiple non-union is causing it due to inflammation if they can get a union it will go away. And when asked if it’s neuroma or metatarsalgia I kinda get shrugs like unknown. Someone has to know.
that was my thought too. Rico, have you had an mri to check for that?
PurpleTurtle8163 can’t have MRI. C of hardware. I have had several ct scans but only focused on the TMT fusion. Every time I express concern about the ballot for pain it’s ignored. Multiple doctors. They only seem to care about the joint and bone. Wondering if I need a different type of doctor than orth surgeon to discuss this other part of anatomy.
I had the same pain. They ended up doing Metatarsal osteotomy for my second toe to relieve the pain
