I’m going to call a doctor Monday, but just curious if anyone has had pain around this area on top of their foot (for me it’s only my right foot). It gets worse if I elevate or rest it. I get an occasional gout flare up in my big toe so I took an indomethacin to see if it helped in which it didn’t, so I don’t believe it’s gout related. I walk 9-12 miles a day at work for the last 10 years and haven’t injured the foot at all. Doesn’t appear to be any swelling or redness compared to my left foot. The pain is constant in small waves. Gets worse when I take off my shoe. Thanks!

Sounds like a Morton’s Neuroma

I too have the same problem. I took the same medication 💊. I asked my podiatrist for a cortisone injection 💉 it worked for a few months but comes back from time to time.

I have the same problem in both feet, same area. It doesn’t bother me standing as much as when I sit down after being on my feet a lot. Then it cramps!! My doctor said I have the flattest feet he’s ever seen, which I’m sure contributes to it. I’ve also had bunionectomies and Morton’s neuromas. He said since I had tried everything else non-medical to help it, he suggested he do a hind foot fusion to realign everything. I’m waiting for my husbands health to get better before I schedule it. I’ll have to be off that foot for 6 to 8 weeks, then have the same surgery on the other foot a year later. I had been told it was a Morton’s neuroma and also that it was a ganglion, but the last doctor had dealt with this many times. It’s not getting any better, so eventually I’ll probably be having the surgery.

I also have top-of-foot pain in nearly the same spot, only it's my left foot and a bit closer to the ankle. Mine will hurt mostly when I stand up from a sitting position. I can't even touch my foot to the floor without excruciating pain. Along with 10/10 pain in that area, I also get a burning pain on my big toe right above the nail. No swelling or redness. I'm feeling like mine is some sort of nerve pain; like I'm compressing a nerve when sitting. I've just made an appointment to have it checked out in 3 weeks. I've had this for almost 2 years, so 3 more weeks is nothin'.

My pain is there but more side of foot than top. Two podiatrists diagnosed tendonitis. PT for several months to strengthen ankles and calves helped a lot. I also wear slipper/ slides first time in my life. No more barefoot. I have high arches but now wear Brooks neutral ghost sneakers and sandals with a slight curve at arch.

Blood flow can cure anything. Check whether blood flows properly. I messaged my enter leg daily which removed knots that blocked the blood flow and all problem solved, had planter fasciitis and got cured with simple solution. Oil message( used mustard oil)

I have pain on the top of my feet and the X-rays showed arthritis

I have this also but mine goes clear through to the bottom where it really throbs! Mine just started in that area after I had surgery on the outside of my foot. I have tried everything and nothing works

I have that too. Mine goes across the top of my foot. After X-rays and an CTscan, my Ortho Dr diagnosed me with severe arthritis. You have 4 main bones across the top of your foot and I have almost no cartilage between them. I’ll need surgery, plate and screws to fix mine. Good luck-I stand and walk about the same distance in my profession. Never an easy task when your foot is in that much pain.

no MRI. After I had the cortisol shot the pain stopped with in a matter of minutes. However I had a reoccurrence about 4 months after the first injection. I had a 2nd injection after that I was pain free. I did had some inflammation.

I went to a podiatrist (2nd one I've been to). I had an x-ray, EMG/NCV exam, and an MRI. The only thing it showed was arthritis, which I already knew I had, otherwise all normal. This is definitely not just arthritis. I was on my feet all day last Sunday (no pain as I wasn't sitting) and on Monday, I wasn't able to put any pressure on my foot at all; excruciating pain. After 6 days, it's somewhat better. I decided to do a little more research (gotta love Googling) before I call my Dr again. I just know this is a pinched nerve. I'm guessing my pain is coming from the sciatic nerve at the L5 vertebrae according to this article. I'm planning on another doctor visit soon. I think I'm getting closer to getting this figured out; not sure what the solution will be though.

I don't believe so. I'm fairly certain the pain is originating from my spine. When I stand up from a sitting position and can't step on my foot, I do some leg/back stretches and within a minute or two I can walk with no pain.

I have pain the same area. I’ve had 3 x-rays come back with no problems with the bones. Finally got an MRI after 18 mins of being told I have arthritis. The MRI discovered my 3rd-5th metatarsals had stress fractures near where they connect to the mid foot bones. Moral of my story, get an MRI.

usually caused by arthritis. A fallen arch could also cause pain like that. A simple X-Ray will tell you the answer.

I have top of foot pain as well. Both feet but right is worse. I’ve had diagnostics years ago and gave up when no answer found. It can be debilitating. My thought is extensor tendinitis.

It might be your shoes. I had top-of-the-foot pain a while back and the podiatrist couldn't figure it out. So I got some new shoes and the pain went away.

literally every time I start getting this pain again, I get a new pair of shoes and it pretty much solves it. So you’re probably right lol

I believe it has something to do with my shoes but I’m not positive. It comes and goes every couple weeks and lasts for a day or two and it’s gone again lol
