I am a figure skater and now coaching 3 to 6 hrs per day in skates. My bunions are killing me. I don’t think surgery is a good choice for me because of the risks that I won’t be able to wear skates again plus can’t do that kind of time off. Are there other options to lessen the pain? My left one is way worse than the right and I’m worried about progression to the point I won’t be able to work. I’ve done all that can be done with my skates in terms of width and shape (custom boots as much as the company will do - ie they are a wider fit and the bunion place is stretched/punched out) and I try to wear only wide shoes, usually sports shoes. Any non-surgery remedies to lessen the pain would be much appreciated. What about the different braces advertised, that seem to pull the big toe back into place? I think my feet problems are causing pain all the way up my legs and back and even to the neck. I really need to do something or I won’t be able to work 😞 Thanks for your thoughts I am a figure skater and now coaching 3 to 6 hrs per day in skates. My bunions are killing me. Shared post Rachel Cintron Hello feet people ! 👣 Here are mine. Can you tell which toe is different from the outside? Maybe from the inside… ? Complete plantar plate tear with dislocation. Can’t walk on right forefoot anymore. Scheduling surgery for later this month: MIS bunion + Weil Osteotomy, PIP, and of course plantar plate repair. Consulted 2 good surgeons and now need to pick one. Looking at 2-3 weeks not weight bearing and 6-8 in a boot and not driving (!). Not scared about the surgery- but worried about pain and being sedentary during recovery. Right foot only for now- left foot looks to be a candidate soon tho before it gets to this point again! Advice on healing is most welcome. Hello feet people ! Here are mine. Can you tell which toe is different from the outside? Maybe from the inside… ? Complete plantar plate tear with dislocation.
