Why would my podiatrist suggest that rubbing Vick's Vapo-Rub

Why would my podiatrist suggest that rubbing Vick's Vapo-Rub on my feet at night help with my Plantar Fasciitis? Has anyone ever heard of that or tried it?

It's the menthol in it. I heard adding salt to the vapor rub and rubbing it on the knee helps osteoarthritis and bone on bone pain.

Spray magnesium oil at night. Totally works!

Maybe to numb the pain but it's not going to cure it

I rubbed it in my feet every single day way before I got PF just to make my heels smooth and guess what, I still got PF.

Someone here suggested massaging calf muscle and it helped me a lot.

Not sure, but my Grandma would swear that Vicks could cure anything.
