Surgery was 11 months ago on this foot. (And 5 months ago on my right foot!) I had a pedicure about 6 weeks ago and removed the polish a few days ago to find this white stripe. My first thought was that it was toenail fungus which I haven’t had before but now I’m wondering if this could be from stress to the nail post op. With this stripe being about halfway up the nail, it seems like it should have been growing up for quite a while but this was not there six weeks ago when my toenails got painted. The stripe is smooth and not thick or flaky like I imagine fungus would be. My recovery after surgery on this foot was quite difficult. I had nerve damage and swelling that lasted much longer than expected. I called my dr to ask about this. His care coordinator, not a nurse or PA, called me back. She said she’s never heard of this and doesn’t think it could be related to the surgery. I imagine that where the stripe is would be about the length of what’s grown out since surgery though. Just in case it’s fungus, I did have a virtual dr on demand visit and got a rx for an antifungal polish treatment that I’ve been using. I’m curious if this has happened to any of you! Thanks for any insight!
