Mine looked like that. My podiatrist sent nail clippings to a lab and it came back as fungus. Have you seen a podiatrist or dermatologist?

Dr told me this is probably from a vitamin deficiency.
Dr told me this is probably from a vitamin deficiency. I don’t believe so. I should have taken care of this a long time ago. I’m now to the point I’m insecure about my feet. It even got to the point it was in pain and red and would wake me up at night I would have to soak it in extremely hot water with epsom salt to get relief. This is the only toe like this but my others hurt to even clip and makes no sense. Anyone know what this is? Or what I could buy to heal and take care of this issue? Thank you

I have fungus. I go to the foot doc every once in a while but my insurance doesn’t cover it because it’s cosmetic. You can get an electric nail file and file them down and paint them. You can get otc treatments (in polish instead of pill form) for toenail fungus from Walmart but it doesn’t always work.
You need to ask them to send of a sample for testing to see if it’s fungus that’s what my doctor did
Try some of these I’ve been doing Soaking my feet twice daily in Epsom salt with a cap of Dettol disinfectant Having disinfectant baths Using scholl athlete foot spray twice daily Changing socks and shoes on long shifts in work Using tea tree creams or vicks vapour rub when changing socks and shoes in work Spray shoes with scholl antifungal shoe spray and letting them dry for a day before wearing them Rotating shoes in between wearing Wearing open toe shoes/sandals when I can Cleaning my foot soak bowl after every use Started taking hair, nail and skin vitamins Soak the foot and cut down the nail is short as you can get it and then file it down. Trying to eat more healthy. Disinfect my nail clippers after every use I’m seeing a massive improvement in my nail I’m also taking oral tablets but I’ve seen you don’t want to do that
I’d be concerned about the other toe nails hurting. You need to find out why. As to the fungal nail try Vicks I suggest this because you are trying to get pregnant. Also if the doctor has suggested some vitamin tablets then no harm taking those.
It looks a bit like subungual abscess. It looks like pus under the nail. Or could be subungual hematoma. I don’t see any signs of fungus honestly. You might need an antibiotic or trephination of the nail to drain the pus and relieve the pressure. They put a tiny hole in the nail but it shouldn’t hurt. Towards the tip of your nail with the horizontal line/crack, that looks like a remnant of onychomadesis (nail shedding). Do you injure your toe/feet often? Or do any activities that are hard on the feet? Your doctor doesn’t sound competent. There’s nothing about your nail or toe that is indicative of a vitamin deficiency. You have classic signs of infection- pus, pain (esp waking you up), redness.
The only way to know is to get samples of your nails tested. My insurance covers it. Go from there..
have your primary care doctor refer you to an MD podiatrist or Dermatologist as medically necessary so that your insurance will cover.
You should ask them if they can pull it off. I pulled off.
Shelby did it turn out to be fungus? My story is very much the same. Dr prescribed antibiotics and said it’s not fungus, bc I have redness and pain, mostly during the night.
what did you do for it?
I’m trying to get pregnant for the 5th and last time lmao I don’t wanna take no pills. So hoping I can get this figured out without 😂😭
& no I haven’t seen either of those
wait insurance don’t cover it? Wow. Life sucks lol. Everything expensive,
yours might, mine didn’t.
okay, I’ll have to check. Thank you.
for sure fungus is what you have mine looked similar. Mine still looks terrible. I use Vicks on it at night and soak 2-3 times a week with 1 cup water vinegar and listerine. It’s gonna be a long road to heal it 😩
hi Alicia ,mine looks the same and cracked down to cuticle. definitely is fungus .what treatment do you do ?
Someone mentioned monistat 7 2x day. I started it with two vinegar soaks a day. Once a week I put a tiny bit of bleach in water and soak with that for a few minutes. Don’t use vinegar with bleach. I’m already seeing a difference 🙏
I’ve never seen anyone else that has had it start from the back. Also, mine is not thickening. It’s disintegrating and I have a hole in the nail bed. I’m going to make an appt with a podiatrist to see what can be done but this group is making me feel like it’ll never go away 🥴
what did you end up finding out about yours? Mine is starting from the back and disintegrating to
Anonymous member 594 I’ve been doing Vicks every day and night and my entire bail ended up falling off/disintegrating and new, healthy nail is growing in now 👍🏼
Anonymous member 594 this was how bad it got before I started using the Vicks.
did you put something else or only Vicks ? definitely can see a healthy nail .My nail falling off today and don't know what to do now 😞
Anonymous member 594 I’m using a cheap little laser I got on Amazon, twice a day for 7 min each. I am just using Vicks and covering with a bandaid 24/7.
