Has anyone with a standing job went back to work at 6 almost 7 weeks? Shared post Louise Yogini Day 35 post-op, 4th day doing physical therapy exercises. After I did my PT exercises tonight, I massaged my foot the way the PT did, very gently. And I got a crack! Felt so good. My foot is coming back to life! I highly recommend PT. Well, folks…guess who decided to go for a drive today?! 👀…ME! 🤪 I asked my husband to ride with me for a test drive around town because I wanted to see how my foot would handle it. I ended up driving around for about 15 minutes, going anywhere from 15-30mph, (depending on where we were) and then we agreed for me to go ahead and be the one to make the drive to our chosen diner for lunch. The diner is only 30 miles away. The speed limit there and back fluctuates btwn 35-55mph. The entire drive went GREAT! The brake pedal didn’t bother my foot/toe at all!!! No pain or anything. 🙏🏽 I’m proud of myself for taking the opportunity to at least try it. If it would’ve become an issue for my foot, my husband was there to take over. 🥰 Thankfully, that didn’t happen and his “assistance” wasn’t necessary. We enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere and conversation between us as well as with other customers and staff. On the drive back home, we stopped at a roadside produce stand and got lots a fresh, homegrown goodies. 😀 Overall, I really, really enjoyed myself. I needed THIS so much. We’re safely back home now and I’m in the process of preparing food to cook for this evening’s dinner as we’re having company over later. This surgery isn’t easy. Neither is the recovery. Take it slow and steady and don’t allow ANYTHING (including fear and yourself) to get in the way of YOUR individual healing. **Here’s a photo of us right before we started stuffing our faces. 😂** I’ll be 6wks post-op on August 5th. Is that normal? Also my feet are so wide right now that none of my shoes fit! I went from size 7 to 8.5… will my feet ever go back to my regular size? In addition, I’d appreciate if you could share with me brands and pictures of cute comfy shoes TY Shared post Ty Pie I'm about 37 days post-op...​I decided to take a big step forward today and walk in my regular sandals to a local Lidl, which was a 30-minute walk away.​I had MIS and the incision area is still sensitive, so I use adhesive wound dressings/plasters over the area to prevent any rubbing. It still feels "tighter" than Peter's Spidey costume, but it is an easier discomfort to deal with than my original bunion pain.​On top of that, with all the shopping I carried back in my rucksack and the 30-minute walk back, I have to say I understand what Tom feels like, because originally this mission felt impossible. As if that wasn't enough... I had a video call today with my surgeon's post-op care team, who ran through some questions before I reunite with my surgeon again, in person, in about two weeks' time or so.​Y'see, I had already booked a holiday with my family to see my in-laws and, without getting into too much detail, this was important, as two of my in-laws have been diagnosed with dementia. As a consequence, I would say my recovery has not been typical, and truth be told, I probably haven't followed all the recovery protocols of this mission like Spock would on the Starship Enterprise. 🖖🏾​I just can't sleep on my back.​I haven't always iced through discomfort.​I have probably walked more than I should?​But...​My video call went well and I seem to be meeting all the markers to suggest that healing is going in the right direction, confidence is building and listening to Bill Whithers sing Lovely Day...really does help. Take good care of yourselves my friends.
