I had it done now three times now, bunions on both feet. But my right foot shifted so I just had surgery yesterday. From what I remember 16 years ago it wasn’t bad. But this time around is more painful.

I did both feet at the same time and had no pain.

It’s been since Aug 19th. I have to wear the boot for another month. Still have some pain at night & take Advil. It is a slow progress

I had surgery June 11, I found it quite painful especially the nerve pain. But nothing lasts forever, I'm 12 weeks now and walking pretty well with no pain. I followed this group for a year before doing surgery, I was nervous from reading all the negative experiences.. but there's a lot of us who have had a great experience, just find a good surgeon in your area

I had mine done July 2 and I golfed the other day. Never had any pain. I do suggest Sitting with your foot elevated for the first 10 days. That’s what I did.

Surgery on one foot 10 months ago. Big toe still doesn’t bend, lots of pain in the ball of the foot due to a post op plantar pad tear and over corrected chevron osteotomy. I need a revision surgery now with pins. I am healthy, active, not overweight.

I did my right foot 9/2/25 and my left 12/16/25. I regret the surgeries every day. I’m still in so much pain and haven’t gotten back to my jogging the way that I was promised.

...I'm 10 weeks post op MIS bunion surgery on my right foot and I see a consultant next week to start the process for my left foot. It's been a very positive experience but that could be because I let the pain of my bunions get so bad...no post op discomfort could compete. I have no regrets so far, but I would say that "weight bearing" and "walking" are not the same thing. You kinda zombie walk before you regain full range of motion...I was told 2 weeks but it was a full month before I could walk comfortably in shoes. I think it's important to remember that most people share the challenges...but I think it's at least worth making a few enquiries if you can.

Research research research.. If you have tried all the none invasive options.. Insoles shoes injections.etc

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm kind of thinking better do it sooner than later. I won't heal as fast if I'm too much older. Thanks for your input. Wishing you a full recovery!

sounds like this surgery tests a person's patience, among other things! Slow is ok as long as it's steady. Hang in there Judy! Thanks

Same for me-8 weeks in a boot after first week in an ortho show. No free walking in the boot until week 6 so now in almost week 2 I’m bored but ok. Worst pain is 2-5AM shooting pains and muscle tightness.

oh goodness. That all sounds like a lot. I hope you continue to heal to a full recovery. I think the nerve pain is most of what I'm concerned about. That can take a long time to heal.

Just be cognizant of how you walk in the boot. Keep it low and slow if possible. It’s heavier than your regular shoe and your knee isn’t used to the additional weight. I was told after day 10 I could walk around in boot “as felt comfortable”. Foot felt great calf and knee weren’t accustomed to the heavy stride. Now low and slow I’m feeling good.

... I plan to write another post and share my experience in this group. But you are so right...it's a day at a time. I sincerely wish you the best making a decision that's right for you.

aww bless.. Same here... Our feet are all different what may work for others may not work for you.. All the best whatever you decide.... There is laser therapy which isn't painful.. Also shock wave therapy... I haven't tried these yet but if the pain gets too much I will... Also acupuncture can control the pain. I have cut back on my exercises on my feet and it has helped the pain. You do what you need to do.
