It's only been about 5 days post op...but... I miss walking!! That being said, even though I still lumber like Frankenstein after a few beers at the pub, I think I'm moving in the right direction. Gentle activity was ALWAYS going to be a part of my plan, so I've been able to find some seated upper‑body workouts (using lightweight) and attempt core exercises — nothing too crazy, but enough to raise the heart rate. I mentioned before that I've increased vitamin D & K2 but still take my regular multivitamin, fish oil, turmeric, protein shakes with a sprinkling of creatine. So far, I haven't needed to use any pain relief, but I'm trying to stay as hydrated as possible. But in case I haven't said it already... I miss walking. So, to celebrate my upcoming one‑week MIS bunion surgery anniversary (), I've found a nice new boot (arriving tomorrow) that I'll use to explore the outside world again... hopefully next week? But I'll be listening to my body like it was a Whitney Houston album and will not push too hard or too fast...but anyone who could share how they started the process of walking it would be greatly appreciated. Take good care of yourselves, my friends.

Yes!! I was also back to doing seated upper body strength training at about 2 weeks post op. I’m 6 weeks post op now and talked my dr into letting me do low impact Peloton rides (seated only). I told Dr that the lack of exercise was starting to affect my mood and he said “then let’s get you exercising.” 👍. My dr said once I’m out of surgical shoe and into a regular sneaker full time, I can begin walking for exercise. Hoping that is next week when I’ll be 7 weeks post op.

I’m day 1 post op and having difficulty with sitting for long periods. Definitely miss walking. But this too shall pass

I had mine four days ago and by day two I was able to still do my Peloton floor stretching and abs workouts because they didn't require any work with that foot. I have been able to do arm weights too, just nothing with my legs. I usually do treadmill so it's hard not getting to exercise. My hardest thing is sitting still and elevating because I am home and have stuff to do around the house and dogs, etc. So I do get steps in around the house. Not much pain, just taking advil if it starts to hurt.

I am 4 weeks out and just ordered a shoe like yours. I was wearing a big boot, but it felt too bulky and unnecessary. Definitely listen to your foot. I’ve been more mobile, but I still get swollen and have to take a break.

Anyone here older? My bunions are horrible! I am a fairly active healthy 67 year old, but some of the stories I have heard have scared me! But I seriously cant wear closed toes shoes without pain.

seated upper body strength training sounds great thanks for tip. I’ll wait a day or two since I’m 1 day post op. So far no severe pain.

...Thank you for sharing my friend. I never truly realised the value of walking for both the physical and mental. I sincerely wish you all the best for a strong and steady recovery.

... It's very early days, just make sure you take good care of yourself and stay as comfortable as possible. Wishing you all the best for a strong and steady recovery. 🙏🏾💕❤️

... It's funny because despite the pictures I post, keeping my foot elevated remains my biggest challenge... especially with young children. But it's nice to be in such great company... Because our respective surgeries weren't too far apart.

... You give great words of wisdom. I do not want to set myself back, so I will only move at a comfortable level...and check my ego at the door.

... While it is important to read about the experiences of others; bunion surgeries have an 80 - 90% success rate and other websites claim it's even higher than that. We ALL have the right to walk pain free! My bunions didn't give me much trouble for about 30 years until recently and the pain was getting gradually worse. The youngest we'll ever be is now... So while I'm not saying that surgery is the answer... I think it's a good idea to at least make some enquiries. Best of luck to you. 🙏🏾💕❤️
