OK, my podiatrist wants me to get a walking cast on for a month. I am using a Lacrosse ball, taking a nerve blocker, massaging, vibrator massaging calves and plantar area, but it never goes away. I have had this since April. I am a cyclist and it began when I rode 170 miles in June for AHA fundraiser. It did almost fully go away till July. I hiked to the top of Lassen 2400 ft of climbing and it returned, worse this time. So, have any of you done the 30 day cast and what was the result?

Tape your feet with zinc oxide tape 24:7 for 6 weeks. I did and I’ve been completely pain free for 7 years

I wore a walking cast that healed a tear

You could try taping before getting a cast on. I taped 24/7 for 3 months and was pain free after that. I’m thinking the hill climbing has pulled and stretched the fascia too much resulting in micro tears. Don’t use a ball, that will make it worse.

I would do it-it will take the load off of your foot and give you time to heal and it won’t be around the holidays-the month will go by fast.

I’m gonna be honest!! I’ve had PF for 15 years and never once was I prescribed a cast!!

I used a surgery shoe for a month to rest. The cast killed my hip and back. It helped

I wore a walking boot on 2 different occasions for a peroneal tendon issue. Not the same as PF, but the concept is to take pressure off the foot to allow healing

I saw a few doctors with my PF. Didn’t take long before I decided they were quacks. I then went down the YouTube rabbit hole. My feet were so inflamed I couldn’t do the exercises and stretches so I began taping. I taped both feet 24/7 for 8 months. During that time I was able to begin strengthening my core, hips, glutes, and everything else to my toes. It has been 3 years now. If I didn’t take care of myself I know it would come back.

My PF started while i was in a walking boot for some fxs in my foot. Since my fx care podiatrist didnt have a clue on how to tx PF.. i saw another podiatrist.. she also recommended a cast for my foot can heal.. im scheduled for an MRI next month and once i recd the results ill decide if i need the immobilization 🤔🤔.. plz note if foot is put in a cast ,, your going to def need PT after it is removed..

any brand from Amazon. I used the white paper zinc oxide tape and taped like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuQ_W0VJNFc

How to tape for heel pain / plantar fasciitis using the Low Dye technique

1 month vs 3, cast for a month, sounding better. I fought off the cast last week to invigorate my efforts and see if I could make it better, so far no luck.

yes but the cast will give you another set of problems, weakness and muscle wastage. Which is the complete opposite of what you want. With the taping it’s holding the fascia firm to heal but you can still walk and drive etc.

the problem is, they all say totally different and opposite things. Stretch, no stretch, barefeet , no support shoes, cortisone, no cortisone is bad. ???

I hope they put mine in a cast or both of my feet. Anything to help this pain
