On week 8 healing from stress fracture halfway down middle toe. A callus is forming around it which it’s supposed to do apparently and doctor said I won’t need surgery to scrape off anything which is good. He never put me in a boot and wearing sturdy shoes makes my toes hurt and causes more swelling to my mid foot. Pain off and on but I can see more of my tendons now. Sometimes gets a little frustrating at how long this is taking to heal. I started physical therapy hoping it will help the healing process. Anyone else take this long or longer to heal?

Should have been in a boot after fracture. I recovered from two fractures that were initially misdiagnosed, so it is possible, but took 2 years for me 😔 Please check out Topo shoes, there are many models to choose from but this is the one I recommend. So soft, just enough cushion, and wide enough as I couldn’t stand anything even remotely pushing on my foot in general. Amazon has free returns, and they are expensive. I learned I had to take it easy, let pain be your guide, you still need rest and down time. No walking vacations or all day outings, it sets you back 🤷🏻‍♀️ I made them MRI me every 4-6 months for progress Good luck ❤️‍🩹

I had a painful callus on the ball of my foot 7 years ago. The Orthopedic Surgeon at Tulane Medical Center gave me 2 injections in my callus, during other related foot surgery. I kept track of my callus with pictures. It took exactly 3 months for callus to peel off and looking like a baby’s bottom. Now my callus has grown back with a vengeance. However, I can’t find out what the name of the miracle injection was. I would gladly wait for 3 months of healing if I did. Hope somebody here knows the name of the injection. 😊

A fracture that has not been immobilized can take a very long time to heal. And on another bit of bad news... once you've had a stress fracture that spot is usually weak and thus prone to reinjury.
