My manky bunion and the things I try.

Archive date 20 archived replies

My manky bunion and the things I try. None of them very comfortable and gives me more pain. Ive started getting callous on the top right of toe now it is pointing forwards, it’s sore like an ingrown toenail. What gadgets work best for you?

Wear wide, soft shoes with lots of toe space. Avoid tight or high-heeled shoes. Use gel bunion pads or toe sleeves to reduce rubbing and pressure. Try silicone toe separators (start slowly) to realign and prevent friction. Apply moisturizer or callus remover gently to soften thick skin. Night splints can help keep the big toe straighter if not too painful. If pain worsens or you notice infection or severe deformity — see a podiatrist for nail and bunion care. Comfort is key — stop any gadget that causes more pain. 👍👍👍

I use that, have tried a few other gadgets with limited success. It doesn’t fix the deformity but I wear that to bed for a few hours and take it off during the night.

I got all the same gadgets as you do.

would also consider men’s sneakers which typically have a wider forefoot but normal heel

Nothing will correct it except surgery but i do find a toe spreader like Yoga toes at night - even a couple of hours really gives me relief

Try The Bunion Bulletin

What footwear are you wearing and is there a bit of space past the tip of of the toe before the tip of the shoe? Altra running shoes and Topo running shoes are more foot shaped so toes can splay- they are good. Be sure that the shoes are long enough too! Get a few sessions of physiotherapy.

I tried all of these but unfortunately the only option is surgery . X

Nothing ! Seek doctors’s advice !

Those gadgets that they claim work. Are just a waste of money. They don’t work. It’s best to see a professional doctor

because my feet are wide I always size up to a 5 when I’m a size 4. Saying that the slippers I’ve been wearing are probably the wrong shape I think. I’ll look at Altra though thank you

Yeah, it’s a journey figuring out what helps for sure, it seems that footwear, stretching, and strength are the three main things to focus on. I found a video that explains the feet that helped me get my head into what I need to do. It’s on a YouTube account called Beam Tribe and the title is “toe splay” in case you’re interested. Good luck 🙂

I use those at while sleeping but not during the day.

I have all them gadgets too and more. The silicon thing between toe helps alittle when I wear shoes.Other than that nothing.😥

Gadgets don’t work when you have bone deformity, these things can’t rectify the problem unfortunately, surgery will be the only way to fix it x

I wear ..the full foot and the stable toe items at time in thr altra paradigm line becuase of the wide toe box. I have flat feet so I wear insoles from . I love the compression socks to keep the ligaments in place while I wear the toe spacers. It hasn't gotten worse.
