What are everyone’s opinions about being barefoot/wearing footwear indoors?

What are everyone’s opinions about being barefoot/wearing footwear indoors? Iv had flat feet pain and planta in both feet now for a year. Doing the exercises, customised orthotics and now they’d like me to do shockwave therapy. I’m a bit hesitant about that as some people have said it’s made their pain worse and I’m trying to see what else I can do to help. Iv looked into getting a foot sleeve, calf massager, multivitamins ect and was wondering if I’m going wrong by being barefoot indoors? I think due to my flat feet I’m most comfy barefoot and always have been, but what’s your opinions? If you were sliders/Sandals indoors what’s your recommendations?

My go recommended crocs years ago and it was the best thing. I told my brother in law and he couldn’t believe the difference it made to him.

I also have flat feet and I despise having footwear indoors, but I have hardwood floor and sometimes makes my pain worst, I got a pair of crocs, it does make the difference, and I also have a pair of oofos slides, they also help a lot.

Oofas slides work for me

I’ve tried shockwave and found it semi successful but found laser much more so - and far more cost effective. I need an arch support so love Archies thongs or my Axign slippers. Bare feet no good for me 😢

I have croc slides. Gives me cushion but still semi flat. I put on my arch support shoes when being active around the house. Works for me so far.

I have flat feet and hard wood floors. I also think I have neuropathy. I always have to have some sort of shoes with support on.

I have spent most of my life going barefoot indoors but I don't seem to be able to do it now.

Shockwave is amazing, no fear! I am most comfy barefoot but I have found that the only way to recover from PF is to wear house shoes.

Community comment#9

With PF shouldnt go barefoot

I wear Kuru “Recovery Slides” indoors—very helpful!

I have flat feet and I’m definitely not comfortable barefoot.

Not flat footed - Since a kid I couldn’t wait to take my shoes off. Minute I get in the house, shoes come off. Retired and within seven months of 90% of the time being barefoot I developed PF in my right foot, now I cannot walk two feet without a shoe/sandal on. I keep cushioning flip flops beside the bed so I don’t have to walk bare foot, it really sucks! I have tried many things suggested and nothing really seems to work. Only help for me is wearing a compression sock or tape with comfortable shoes, and I still feel a bit of pain ☹️. Not sure if it was caused by being barefoot more than usual or something else- but it’s definitely an aggravating thing to put up with.

There is nothing wrong with transitioning to barefoot over time. It your pain must be a 4/10 or below and go slow. Avoiding things like this just keep you in pain for longer. Shockwave is designed to cause an inflammatory response that your foot heals. That’s how it works. You are suppose to be in more pain after to get better. ❤️‍🩹

Love shockwave , hasn't been 100% but with that & taping its got me 80% there. I no longer am taped but I do wear the Koprez sleeve & it keeps me going through the day. I have started walking barefoot on the grass but not indoors

I don’t do it. It causes pain.
