Parents in Lancaster county, if your child rolled their right ankle during an injury and it's been sprained since, know that pediatric ankle sprains, even post-traumatic ones, respond wonderfully well to non-surgical care in the vast majority of cases. 🧒 Kids' growing bones and ligaments actually heal remarkably well when given the right support. Treatment starts with rest, ice, and gentle compression in the first few days, followed by a structured return to activity guided by how your child's ankle responds. Bracing during sports or active play helps protect the ankle while it fully heals, and age-appropriate physical therapy exercises can help restore strength and balance, especially for active kids eager to get back to their sport. Most pediatric ankle sprains, even those following a specific injury, heal completely within a few weeks with this straightforward conservative approach — surgery is very rarely needed for kids' ankle sprains. The most important thing is not rushing your child back to full activity before the ankle has properly healed. 🏃 If your child has a lingering ankle sprain, let's make sure it heals the right way. A flare-up of osteomyelitis — infection that has reached the bone — is a serious situation that calls for prompt, decisive treatment, and we want our Lancaster county patients to know exactly what that involves. ⚠️ Treatment typically starts with a targeted course of antibiotics, often extended and sometimes IV-administered, guided by cultures to make sure we're treating the specific bacteria involved. For some flare-ups, this antibiotic-focused approach can bring the infection under control. However, bone infections are notoriously difficult to fully clear with antibiotics alone once they've flared, and surgical debridement — removing infected bone and tissue — is frequently the most effective way to actually eliminate the infection source and allow healing to move forward. Combining surgery with targeted antibiotic therapy generally offers the best chance of fully resolving a bone infection and preventing it from recurring or spreading further. We coordinate closely on imaging and lab work throughout to track how you're responding. 🦴 If you have a known bone infection that's flaring up again, please don't wait to be seen. That first-step-out-of-bed heel pain has a name — plantar fasciitis — and if it's been moderate and ongoing in your left foot, there's real reason for optimism. 🌅 For our Lancaster County neighbors dealing with this, the encouraging truth is that the overwhelming majority of plantar fasciitis cases, including moderate ones, resolve completely with non-surgical care and never require surgery at all. We build a plan around calf and plantar fascia stretching, supportive footwear or orthotics, activity modification, and sometimes night splints or physical therapy to speed things along. Most patients notice steady improvement within six to eight weeks of consistent conservative treatment. For the small percentage of cases that don't improve after several months of dedicated non-surgical care, additional options like shockwave therapy can often resolve things before surgery would ever need to be discussed — surgical release is truly a rare, last-resort step for plantar fasciitis. The best outcomes come from sticking with your stretching and support routine consistently, even once the pain starts easing. 👣 If that heel pain has been slowing down your mornings, let's get you back to pain-free steps. Help! I just don't know where to turn. I am suffering from intense foot pain. A little about me. I am 66 years old. I work 3-4 days a week as a cook. I am on my feet for 8 hours a shift. This is really painful for me. I really need to find a nice desk job. I have neuropathy in my toes. My main areas of pain are my arches (which i am told are flat). Then I have these bumps on the side of my foot at the fifth metatarsal. They ache. I have been to see a podiatrist. No help! Not sure what the problem is. Went to an orthopedic doctor. No help there but he did tell me to get custom orthotics. I have an appointment in two weeks to get fitted for custom orthotics. Is this the answer to my problems? At $450 I am cautiously optimistic. Any advice?

Extreme Foot Pain to Ambulatory Wheelchair User
Has anyone’s foot condition led them to use a wheelchair and make home modifications to make their home more wheelchair-friendly?
Have congenital flat feet, now PTTD & chronic strain on the spring ligament complex. Live with a lot of pain. Using a wheelchair now, and it alleviates the pain. Thinking about building a ramp to the back of the house to more easily get in and out with the chair and adding a chair lift to a long set of
