G'day I am from Adelaide Australia, had my surgery on the 7th of July as you can see my Bunion Scaring is very minimal very happy with the result .I go back on Tues this wk to have the 3 K Wires from my toes which I am really looking forward.I think these were more painful than the bunion.I am so happy to have this done as it wasn't getting any better.Looking forward to wearing Summer Sandels and not hiding my foot anymore.

Hi everyone! Hope you are all recovering well. Had right foot surgery on July 23rd. Stitches out yesterday. Left foot is now scheduled for August 28. So, 5 weeks in between surgeries. I just bought some compression toe-less ankle socks on Amazon. Question: my doctor wants me in shoes before the 2nd surgery. Are most of you buying tennis shoes or sandals? I'm looking for sandals I guess i will need to spend the day at a shoe store trying on shoes.

Annie Lennox was right, because if 🎶sweet dreams are made of this, and who am I to disagree?🎶 😅 I'm sitting at around 5 1/2 weeks post-op... from MIS bunion surgery, and today was like a dream... I always feel a light touch of anxiety before walking because I don't want any contact between my footwear and the incision site. So I took a deep breath and went for a walk in my wide-toe-box sandals (with orthopedic support), but WITHOUT using a protective Band-Aid to cushion my healing incisions. Just like Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald, I did this 🎶On my own🎶 so I could walk with no pressure and alternate between walking faster or slower, finding my groove on my own terms. I complete all my toe/foot mobility exercises and things can still feel a little "tight" sometimes, and to the untrained eye, I probably look like I'm walking normally? But more importantly, my confidence is increasing. I can now use light/medium dumbbells for some exercises without the need for a chair... but I thought with all the core work I've been doing, Calvin Klein was going to call me for the summer ad campaign! 😅 It's worth mentioning that at about 2 weeks post-op, I noticed random light patches of skin near the incision site, and I was shedding so much skin (especially over where my old bunion used to reside) that I had to double-check it wasn't midnight and I wasn't howling at a full moon. Everything seems to have settled, and I think my obsession with moisturizing, drinking water, quality sleep, and listening to Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World" helps a lot. Look after yourselves, my friends.

Hello all! My MIS procedure is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:45am. These items plus a knee scooter and shower chair are what I have to help aid in my recovery. Am I missing anything that is a “must-have”? Thanks in advance!

I’m considering MIS without hardware. I understand the healing of the bone occurs while you have the bandage wrap on for quite some time.
Can anyone share results after several years of having the surgery without hardware?

I have a different question here. We're not born with bunions and I don't know if any children that have bunions. From a little bit of research, which a lot is contradictory, it looks like it could be a muscle issue that is not holding the bone in place. To me it looks like if our foot was a plastic skeleton and we could manipulate it, we could move that bone back in place naturally and not by surgery. I just don't understand the theory behind cutting the bone, and then sticking pins in it. Couldn't there be a device that could push that bone back in place over time? Thank you for listening

Had my 10 week post op check-up. I’ve been released and can return to all activity, including running
. I had the minimally invasive procedure that required 3 pinhole incisions and no metal hardware. Big toe was splinted with tape for 9 weeks while bone healed.
